FS: Musical Fidelity A5 Tube CD Player

For Sale is the Musical Fidelity A5 Tube CD player. Asking price is $1,599, obo. Retail price is $2,800. This player is in excellent condition. I am the second owner and it has brought me musical pleasure for a little over a year. The build quality of the A5 is formidable. It weighs about 35lbs. and is built like a tank. The sound of the A5 is one that is close to neutral and evenly balanced from top to bottom. It has a wonderfully silky smooth high end, a clear open midrange and tight deep bass. Fantastic soundstage with wonderful depth and layering. The Mu Vista 6112 tubes add a touch of warmth and holography. Musical Fidelity indicates that the 6112 tubes have an extremely long life and will last about 100,000 hours. The A5 has a dual-differential 24-bit Delta-Sigma bit-stream DAC with 192kHz 8x oversampling. Aside from the standard RCA analog output, the A5 provides one optical Toslink and one S/PDIF RCA digital output if you want to use it as a transport with an outboard DAC. I have attached a link to the Musical Fidelity website if you want more information on the specifications.

You can find many reviews of this player in the archives of this forum and other audio forums. TAS reviewed this player about 18 months ago and compared it to the Lector 7T and preferred the A5 over the Lector. You may check my feedback on Audiogon.com under username: hartwerger. I can also email pictures for seriously interested persons. You may also contact me with any questions that you have. Payment: USPS Money Order; please add 3% if using Paypal. Shipping is not included. I have the original box, owners manual and remote. Serious inquiries only. Thanks

If anyone is interested, I posted the sale on Audiogon and there are some pics of the player:   http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtlplay&1192715077.   Not the greatest pics, but at least you can see what I'm selling.   Anyway, I'm available to answer any questions through Audiogon or Audiocircle, so feel free to contact me via either forum.  Thanks.
