XM or Sirius
« on: 9 Aug 2007, 04:23 am »
I'm looking to install an inexpensive sound system in my business. It needs to look attractive, but the cost needs to stay reasonable. I'd like to be able to play XM or Sirius satellite radio because my understanding is there are no copyright violations since one pays for the subscription. Do any of you know if my understanding is correct? If so, can any of you recommend a good setup? I went by Best Buy tonight and saw a relatively inexpensive Dennon receiver that is XM ready and it was listed at $329. The guy who worked there said it could play 5.1 as is typically done in an HT, but it could also send out 5 mono signals. That would be ideal as I could strategically put ceiling speakers thoughout the business (it has the typical drop ceiling, so it would be extremely easy to run wires). Another option for speakers would be to get 5 of RAWs full range drivers and make 5 small enclosures. Any suggestions? I was hoping to spend less than $500 but there doesn't seem to be much out there in that price range.
