Initial impressions of the Bybee Power Bar

I just received it last night, but because my first impressions were so strong, I felt I had to comment now.
My prior power strip was just a 6-plug Monster, basically no better than the wall. It was not designed for the larger connectors on my PS Audio power cords.
So, off I went looking for a solution. I checked out the Power Plants from PS Audio, Equi=Tech, BPT, etc., and I just don't have the space for any of these. Then Wayne debuted the Bybee Power Bar and I've been wanted to try some Bybees, so....
I ordered the 3-Bybee, 8-outlet bar and have been chomping at the bit ever since I placed the order. It arrived last night, just about two weeks after the order. Nice turnaround time!
I listened to a couple of tracks, but especially,
Do What You Have to Do
from Sarah McLachlan's
Surfacing,
a few chapters from the Superbit version of
Panic Room
and the first side from The White Stripes
De Stijl
before dropping the Power Bar into my system.
I fired up the Jupiter and WOW.
The change in detail really bowled me over. I quickly turned the TV and DVD player on and watched the same chapters on
Panic Room.
Yep, detail! The picture prior to the Bybee'd Power Bar (BPB) was very good, but now it's amazing. The LP sounded huge. Soundstage was wide and the background noise was gone (not that there was a lot, but it's like one of those scenes in a movie where the characters out in the forest freak out because they hear NO background noise, and there should be some...you know?).
I guess the analogy is kinda like being accustomed to looking through grimy windows and then POW! someone cleaned the windows and you just had no idea things looked like that. It's the same with the BPB. I read the other reviews of the BPB, and I guess I was expecting much the same, but that wasn't the case. No need to remove it and go back to what it sounded like before to know it's worthwhile. It's not subtle to me. At All.
Way to effing go, Wayne!

Dogberry,
I too recently received the Bolder Power Bar, 8-outlet from Wayne (hooked it up this past Thursday). In my case, I went with 5 Bybees and all ACME cryo'd outlets.
I have about 50 hours on the unit and can unequivocally state that this is the FINEST AC related upgrade I have ever introduced into my system, without hesitation.... bar none, hands down...
IMHO, of course. The ACMES need some more time for break-in and the Power Bar does as well. But at this point, it is all kudos.
I have traversed Tripplite, Vans Evers, Monster, Risch, DIY with Hubell cryo'd outlets, PS Juice Bar, (that's about it)
and the Power Bar by Wayne with the Bybees/Nitro/Acme cryo is so far beyond all of these offerings that it is not worth further comment.
my meager system is mostly used for 5 channel audio and HT...

I was particularly impressed with the immediate increase in dynamics (as other users have noted), but, honestly, I was more taken by the smoother harmonics and cohesion within the soundstage. Bass punch was faster with much more impact. HF detail (added information, that is) was clearly delineated and separated onstage, so much so that very familiar material was not blurred as in the past, and stood out on its own with full harmonics. The music sounded more like , well, music --- more depth, more separation of instruments, faster and tighter. Notes and harmonics lost in the past with other AC connections lasted and lingered with the Bybee Bar. Very noticable for me.
There is a something though that the Bybees in the The Power Bar do that I just can get a finger on ....... it is the lack of that digital edge, the etched and grating uneasiness I so often felt sitting in my spot before the Bybees and the BPB were placed into my system. This may sound as an aside, but I felt very comfortable listening to every note from my system. Hard to explain but whatever these Bybees do they cut through the haze and grunge like you owned the power company. Very smooth.
And the workmanship of the Power Bar is top shelf. I highly recommend this unit if you are on the fence over Bybee and your AC source. It is my last real upgrade before I move into a DLP HD set and a new pre/pro.

ps.. my fifth IRD MB-100 monoblock on order....
.... and does anybody want to buy a PS Audio Juice Bar for a good price, and a Marantz MA6100 monoblock as well ?

Robin,
One Bybee next (literally at the AC plug end) to the AC plug for the ground, two for H+N once inside the Power Bar(analog), and two dedicated for the H+N at the digital duplex, so as to separate the digital duplex from all else.
Wayne can explain in greater detail, or correct me if the exact placement of the Bybees is not accurate.
I wanted to separate the digital duplex completely from the analog duplexes, as I wanted to connect my PS Audio UO (RPTV AND pre/pro are into the UO) with immunity from any line hash, yet keep it separated from my other dedicated circuit, which has an Audience PC for the DVD player into a Risch filter.
Shit, I may need to move the Audience over to the UO (use an HT Fantasy PC there right now).
Or else sell the Audience............. nah, a keeper it is.

Robin,
A night owl.....
Must be the Canadian high coming with much relief after the humidity we have persevered throughout the summer. I have much more energy when temps are cooler, esp@ night.
Anyway, the Bolder Power Bar purchase was a calculated one after many months of "on the fence".
Yeah, the in-series Bybees on the dig coax woke me up for sure, as I realized the signal responded with a sharp focus. As I have always felt and heard that the AC quality was what I was always limited to/with, I saw the loss of the PS Audio Juice Bar for the Power Bar as a major leap forward. Gee, just a quantam move ahead
Good landing .......... as Wayne's Power Bar with Bybees has taken me more than a few moves forward than I ever expected. Honestly. I recommend it highly.... but to you, I am preaching to the annointed

Well, I see the 2 channel forum has pretty much "clustered" the air with Bybee/ ferrite "discussion"and choked the thing to death.... to say the least.
Weeks later ..... the Bolder strip with Acme cryo'd emerges from no large funk to impress the hell out of me.
I will let you know how things go once I hook up my EAD Ovation Plus pre/pro to my system. 2 channel and HT.
Critics of Bybee's are much to vocal about the roll-off of the HF. I could not differ more. But I have no inclination to argue. Why bother.
Use them in the AC and the guessing is over, IME.

I don't hear roll off w/bybees, I hear lack of hash and white-noise like masking effects removed. In my system, every bybee I've added has been a big gain in resolution and detail.
