It seems that some of us have endless quantities of speakers... I own three (pair). One in the basement, unused. One upstairs waiting for a second system to give birth, and the Merlins in my main system.

So how many?

Do computer speakers count? (good ones I mean!)

Six pair, all in use. :|

Eight pair, all in use if we count computer speakers.

I usually remain consistent in owning just two or three pairs of speakers. On occasions however, I am known to go overboard. Sometime back in 2005;

Holy crap!!! Do you have a system for every room in the house - including bathrooms?  When other people go to the bathroom they take a newspaper or magazine, but when you go you just take your favorite CD with you

Three pairs in use. One 5.1 surround system in use plus three pairs in the closet.

Wow. I think I need some sort of help.

For a number of years I was happy with (and still am) the Quad 10L standmounts in my then (single) system in the family home.

I was always a fan of classic Quad and started looking at used equipment on e*ay and via that I came across T-amps and AudioCircle.

(Un)fortunately I also found lots of speakers on e*bay and here and I can't resist 'trying' them out - always intending to sell them again of course!
First was a pair of Leak 2030 sandwich speakers, closely followed by Rogers db101s, Mission something or others, Kenwood KL-7090s (2 pairs :o).

1 pair of and single JR149 came along and later 2 JR subs for which I have bought replacement drivers from Madisound but not yet fitted.

At my 'holiday home' (my daughter's - now in NY) Bargain Polk R40s, Omega Super 3s, Omega XRS floor standers. The Omegas were bought from members here and by chance have matching finish. Hopefully I will be able to get Louis to fit the hemp drivers in due course and if / when the kids are re-patriated to the UK they will create avery nice HT setup for me.

My latest aquisition (10 days ago) was a pair of Gale GS401As - the chrome ends.

I make that 10 pairs, 1 oddity and 2 subs.

Computer speakers, ipod docks and stuff - don't even go there

I currently have 22 speakers (11 pairs) + 2 center channels, + 2 subs.

These are used all over the house in 2 channel and HT setups.

Most rooms have some form of music available for their enjoyment.

I didn't count computer setups.

1 pair of Silverlines in the main room
1 pair of DIY speakers in the living room
1 pair of Realistics in the office
4  15" TC2000 drivers in 2 IB manifolds under my theater, absolute killers  :uzi:
14 pairs of inwalls in various rooms, patio, garage, etc.

Can't afford more than 1 real good pair of speakers at a time. :(

I have to say you guys/gals are making me feel better about owning only two pair of speakers (not counting computer).

It was 3 pair before I sold a pair last night  :thumb:

I feel better when I do not have pricey stuff sitting and not being used.  I do not have extra $$$ so I usually sell spares for upgrading the main system or wire or bills.

I find myself listening to my main system the majority of the time and headphones when I cannot use the Salk speakers.

my vintage tubed stereo table radio i listen to at work has two detachable speakers.  besides that, le'see - a pair of diapason adamantes lll's  (f/s), a pair of meret re's (cosmetically challenged, due to the ex throwing them), a pair of coincident victory's, a pair of piega p5 ltd mkll's, a pair of sansui sp2500's, a pair of original bose 901's (purchased new @ 50% of retail in 1969), a pair of usher s520's, a pair of proac reference 8 tablette signatures.  the ex is using my spectrum 410's, & my zu druid monitors...  so, that's ten pairs.

that's not bad at all, tho - don't ask me about tunas!
