Wow, some of you people are like my good friend--seems he just can't resist a speaker bargain.  His last find was a pair of 10"-woofered Yamahas for $7 at a thrift store.  He's up to maybe 20 pairs by now.

I have 3-1/2 pairs (including SWs) in my multichannel system plus just ONE more pair of little things I use to check equipment.

Hmmm... let me count...

Down to 6.5 pair.*

- DeeCee

*This includes a 5.1 surround set, 1 set of outdoor, 1 "big rig" set and 1 aftermarket set of PC speakers(w. "sub")... sold off another pair some time a year or 2 ago.

Let's see... The speakers I have hooked up...
I have a pair of monitor speakers plus a sub in my main system. (1)
I have a pair of tower speakers plus a center, a sub, and two pairs of in-ceiling speakers for my surrounds. (3)
I have two pairs of in-ceiling speakers for background music in my bedroom and guest bedroom. (2)
I have a pair of outdoor speakers for my deck. (1)
I have a pair of speakers in my garage (1)

In storage...
I have a pair of old B&W bookshelf speakers. (1)
I have two pairs of cheap bookshelf speakers that used to be my surrounds (2)

So, a total of eleven pairs of speakers, or 25 speakers if you count my center channel and subs.

Not long ago I had the Infinity RS1bs and the Martin Logan CLS1s.  I was able to switch between them using the Infinity bass columns for each.  It was an ideal situation because I was able to learn more about each one by having the other.

I have since gone the way of VMPS with their new RM-V60s.  This will be a 4-piece system like I have been used to, with the inclusion of their new VLA bass towers.  For temporarily use I have a loaner VMPS modified larger subwoofers to VSS specs.  The bass towers should arrive next week.  They weigh in at 400 lbs+ each.  This system should have the potential to rival other great 4 piece systems, such as the old Infinity IRS, Genesis 1s, etc.

So, that will make one complete speaker system for me.  Although I do still have the CLS1s tucked away.

Oh, I've a pair here and a pair there. It's been a while since I've tallied everything up, but I've somewhere around nine pairs, three orphans, and three subs stuffed around my apartment in addition to a handful of loose drivers. There's another half-dozen pairs or that are on loan with friends and family. I'm also storing a fairly large pair of ESS SuperQuads for a friend. All in all that's pretty good considering I was near thirty pairs for a brief while before I finally managed to whittle it down some. Granted, four pairs are over five feet tall (two over six), but they're thin (planars). Still, too many and its frustrating that out here in the country it's difficult to sell the excess.

commercial speakers:

1 pair of Infinity Kappa 9s (my mom's garage)

1 pair of Jbl 20t3 2 way monitors (attic)

1 pair of Gershman X-1+SW-1s(audio room)

1 pair of FTA-2000 (living room)

1 pair of Garuda Zhorns with 8" Fostex 208 Sigmas(with Wizzer cone)(closet)

DIY and Raw:

1 pair of Lafayette SK98 dual cone

1 pair of Altec 755Es

1 pair of Altec 604-8K

1 pair of 10" fullrange drivers circa 1960s? from a junkyard stereo console

1 pair of Lowther PM6As mounted on JE Labs OBs.(Audio Room)

Subwoofer:

Infinity Intermezzo 1.2

PS: speakers are fun but a curse, specially the commercial box types, due to their difficulty to sell and high risk of shipping damage. :thumb:

To "utilize" my ears and my audio room more efficiently, presently, I am on the road of either making a mini OB out of the Lowthers with a passive woofer+active crossover unit OR getting myself a pair of honking Oris 150 from the Netherlands to pair up with the Onken+Vifa passive woofer unit.

PS:  I wonder if my significant other will ever notice?  Hehehehe. :icon_twisted:

its frustrating that out here in the country it's difficult to sell the excess.

I had the same problem.  I tried so hard to get local sales, but living in a small town doesn't often afford those possibilities.  Fortunately I was contacted by someone that wanted what I had so bad that he hired movers to pick things up from my house, package them, then ship them over to him overseas.

My real concern about shipping anything was damage, especially since everything was in pristine condition and an awkward shape to protect.

I have six pairs of speakers, which at my place are about as practical as a space heater in an igloo.  At least the desire for buying more is gone!

I'm doing much better now -- 3 pair:  Adagios in main system, JBL L-300s in storage awaiting some minor repairs before they are put up for sale, and a pair of Vergence/NHT powered monitors for my computer and mixing board (computer sound goes through Macki board.)

Hopefully things will stay stable for a good while now.

Well, lets see....

Lowther PM2A's in an open baffle
Goodman coax in a BR cabinet
Altec A7's
Aperion 633 towers
Aperion 632 monitors
Odyssey Audio Epiphonys
Infinity Qe's
Infinity mini monitors
MJK quarter waves
Karlson cabinets loaded with Pioneer drivers
Yamaha NS1000's I gutted and rebuilt
a pair of diy mini monitors
Niles OS 10's on the deck
a pair of Polk mini monitors that my brother uses
and then I have about 3 more pair of raw Focal drivers and tweeters waiting for me to build some low-e open baffles w/sealed woofers.
oh I forgot, I've got a pair of Isophons and horns waiting for a cabinet too.

Now that I listed them, I suppose that officially qualifies as too many.

Only three pair - I have to work harder on my addiction.

Living room main speakers - Von Schweikert VR2's
Woodshop speakers - JBL L88's bought new in the early '70's, completely re-braced, re-wired, re-worked with JBL mid-range driver and Vifa rear tweeter.
Living room surround speakers - home made cabinets with the Madisound/Vifa surround speaker kit.
