Ken,
I am listening to a borrowed pair of Timepiece 2.0's from (Lonewolf) thank you very much., and all I can say is I can't wait to get my pair of timepiece 3.0's. Tonite I was listening to Sarah Mclaughlin and was just floored. This is with a pair that does not have the upgrades yet, which are supposed to take it to the next level. The level that you are at.  I am jealous. The pair I have are broken in, wait until yours are broken in, it will be nirvana, at least for me.

Just before I was in my office on the computer when I heard these deep bass notes shaking the walls, I thought a truck had passed, but no, it was the Timepieces, I laughed my ass off
These babies rock!! They fill the room with sound and have great tone!
There is a pair of Revelations for sale at $4750, God if I had the money!
Can you imagine?  Someone is going to get a steal!!

Anyway just ranting because I had an exciting listening session while no one was home.

Enjoy :thumb:

Mike:

I have never listened to speakers that produce bass like these do.  I sent a PM to a fellow member of the Circle last night and I told him I really did not know how to react to the bass because I have never heard bass like this from my previous speakers.  I have only had the opportunity to spend 10-12 hours listening to them since last Monday but they truly produce music!

Hope you receive your soon!

Mike:

That is pretty much the same comment I received in response to the PM.

I have not heard any organ music through these speakers yet but I am certain the whole house will be rockin!  :D

Nice, isn't it :green: When I had the Continuums here, I just had to see how things would sound with a few (4 to be exact) 200 watt mono bloc tube amps bi-amping them

It had to be awesome!  I would guess the Continuums would play deeper, louder bass than the Timepieces since they have two woofers.  That must have been ground shaking with all of that power connected.   aa

Yes, it was quite the experience. With 400 tube watts at each speaker and my room being 1300 sq. ft, there was no problem energizing the room with tight, powerfull bass.

The SP Tech speaker love power (current) as well as being more than capable of providing sonic heaven with even the most modest powered amplifiers. As long as it is quality power.

You guys are funny.....what are you "bass-heads" ?  :rotflmao:

Now....I'm just kidding....but a speaker that does bass right, and builds from therewith good mids and highs, just sounds much better than a lot of other speakers that just don't get it right. With others.....your just not hearing it all....and thats a shame..... :?

Enjoy and have fun.....and don't they sound REALLY good.....when you turn them on.....and crank it !!!!  :hyper:

Unfortunately, I really have not cranked them yet but I plan to!

Question:  What is the warning sign that your amps are running out of power?  I don't want to clip the tweeters!

I think Bob said in the past that the woofer voice coils will go before the tweeter does.  :o  But that's on clean power.

I agree Chris. I am not really a bass head but if a speaker can do deep, tight bass and still maintain it's definition, all the better. What I don't like is a speaker that tries to 'imitate' deep bass making it muddy and boomy.

I guess you could say I like "proper" bass. I guess that's why I like big speakers (and cannot lie)

Whether it's the tweeters or woofers (most likely the woofers would go before the tweets in Bob's speakers) the signs are more a mater of being logical. If you crank them up to the point where the sound is becoming distorted or the woofers are bottoming out, you need to back them down a bit. If you have good clean power, you will be amazed of what these speakers can handle. Your ears will go before the speakers do. :|

My amps are Odyssey Mono SEs and I don't have a clue how much clean power they will produce.  I think probably more through the Timepieces than my ears will stand in my room.  I know it will be a lot more than wifey with stand!  :nono:

I think you're good to go! As long you you play smart, you should live happily with this combination for years to come. Now get off the computer and go enjoy some tunes cuddled up with the wife. (let her pick the tunes )

Sorry to hear that. Well, when you talk to her, be sure to tell her you miss her more than your system. If not, it (the system) may not be there when you get home :nono:.

Don't worry about damaging the speakers.  If you have any kind of hearing ability at all, you'll start hearing the amps clip well before you do any damage.  Well, if you were a grunge/metal head, you might like that effect, but other than that you'll know something's wrong.

What you'll hear will start as an "edginess" or somewhat excessively bright sound.  That's the result of harmonic distortion being generated by the square waves resulting from amplifier clipping.  Square waves are nothing more than a series of odd harmonics of descending amplitude being summed together - from a Fourier Analysis standpoint (mathematics), that is. Whatever.

If you start pushing things beyond that, you'll really start hearing it as "distortion" at the mid and higher frequencies.  You'll likely never hear the bass distort until it's really bad.  One of our customers (Christof) has a pair of amps that I believe are the same as yours.  Anyway, he actually pushed them so hard the amps got hot and/or went into current limit protection and shut down!  He has a huge room and had to be cranking them really loud though.  Point is...he never damaged the speakers. :green: So don't sweat it and have fun. :thumb:

-Bob

EDIT: PS.  They'll take a lot more clean power than you have - try 750 WRMS like we have!  No...not on highly compressed rock/metal music, but wide dynamic material like jazz? Yeah baby! aa

We ran my Odyssey Mono SE's for several hours at Bob's place (10k sqft warehouse) on the Revelations and the SP's took every last ounce of what the Odyssey's could dish out, no sweat.  In a normal room, it would definitely make your ears hurt from high db's before distortion is a problem.
