Hi All

The player can be seen here: http://www.tentlabs.com/Products/diycd/index.html

The general description states, "An optional module accepts SPDIF and USB audio as inputs, which converts the player to a universal playback device for either discs or PC based audio files."

Aside from this, I like the design philosophy of this player, but it would be the most expensive thing I have bought without listening to it first.  If someone here has some first hand experience with this player, I would be grateful if you shared your thoughts about it.

Thanks

arthurs

Some comments here (from Australia):

http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/DIYHiFi/messages/7660.html

The high Euro makes this almost a $3k player kit (still need to assemble).

The USB card won't be ready for another 5 months at a predicted $200euro price point.  Cutouts for the usb connection are already in the kit panel.

Hi and thanks

The reviews are positive, which is good, but it seems that customers are thin on the ground.  Understandable, as the player is relatively new and not cheap.

Lonewolf, good luck organizing a demo unit for the Rave in September.  It would be great to read your impressions and those of the group.

Cheers

I'm in the process of talking with Guido about carrying his product line.    The CD player looks pretty tasty and he certainly has the engineering credentials to do it right.

Anyway...good luck getting one.   He is pretty much out of stock until late Aug.    I'm ordering one to try and various other parts to open up my inventory but don't expect to have them in stock until October.

Oh... price on the player is fairly stiff, especially for the kit market.   $2500 Euro plus shipping and duty.   Translation:   $180 Euro Shipping + 4.9% duty and then figuring the current exchange rate I figure its going to be $3800 USD for the kit.     The way the US dollar is going it could be double that by October (just kidding).  :o

Too rich for you John?  ;-)      If you look at what Guido has done with it the price makes a little more sense.    This is WAY beyond a modified player in terms of engineering & design and I've seen people spend far more than this on a modified player.

Hehhh... just a little. Even with the he-man Aussie dollar  :weights:

I'm sure it sounds great. I just don't understand how it's a DIY product.
