Does anyone know of a cheaper source for these things?  Want to be able to use a good power cord with my DVD player (not so much to improve it but so it doesn't radiate EMI/RFI through its crappy stock power cord) but $19 seems like a lot to pay for a simple adaptor!

I just saw this  power cord from Audusa, claiming great performance in terms of EMI/RFI and available with a Schuko Fig 8 connector [what we're calling C-8].

Apparently, they don't MAKE the wire itself but use some from another company---

The Schuko plug is a European wall plug, not the small C-8 plug that's found on the back of DVD players and the like.

Anyone know where you can get these C8 connectors in raw form to make a power cable with them??
Now that`s a novel idea,, a power cord with that figure 8 termination! Why the hell hasn`t one of these cable manufaturers come up with one to circumevent these damn adapter? :o Regards, Robin

I use a couple of these in my system: http://www.audioquest.com/pdfs/nrg/nrg1.pdf

Robin/Satfrat,

Audioquest makes one (I think $69/6' from Audio Advisor - one of their biggest sellers) and PS Audio has one in the works very shortly.

You  may be right.  They list a variety of connectors available--
http://www.audusa.com/connectioners.htm

There are two Schuko connectors, followed by a FIG 8 connector. I assumed the FIG 8 was Schuko as well, but it may well be some generic brand. But it DOES seem the power cord is available with the FIG 8 as an option at the gear end(and since it's a Brit company, normal US plugs are actually considered "optional" ).

Audusa e-mailed me back about the C8 connectors on their site--they are withdrawing them since people find them "impossible" to work with. They WILL however terminate their own cords with c8's.
