Manual-focus lenses on Nikon D40, take two
« on: 30 Jun 2007, 01:16 pm »
Today I took an AI-converted 135mm f2.8 out with the D40 for a while this afternoon. I wasn't as happy with this combo as I was with the 85... The effective focal length would be about 200mm, maybe I'm just not used to it. Anyway here are a few shots.

These guys were out fishing near the baths at Bungan Beach. It's high tide:

A couple of seagulls circled, hoping for a snack (this one is cropped somewhat):

This shot shows how narrow the depth of field is at f2.8. The shell was maybe 3 inches across, sitting right on the rock (out of focus in the background):

Moonrise. Time to go home:

The moonrise one is cool, nice crested wave right under the moon and all.  I went out last night looking for a moon shot but there just weren't any good clouds around it, it was just a big white disc.
