They stated watching your ad to make sure the price didn't get too high? What does that mean? Were they protecting me from myself?

At first I thought, "Man, what a bunch of jerks!" But now Audiogon is in my heart because they like me and want the best for me. How could I have been so quick to judge and just plain wrong?

So their first concern is that I actually ship the product. (That's good, goes without saying) Then secondly they put product in quotes indicating they know full well it's bullshit. (well, duh) But then thirdly there's some unknown price that is "too high" for them. Wait a minute, why does that matter? Why can't I sell a product to someone who may indeed NOT find it to be bullshit and pay what they want for it? The message here seems to be; we know there's bullshit products people like to sell but as long as people aren't throwing away TOO much of their money, if they start spending too much on bullshit products then we're gonna intervene. Hmmm... A few bucks tossed away on jars of pebbles, wooden knobs and phone calls to improve your Hi-Fi is okay, but let's not spend too much now, that would be unethical!

This same judgement could be applied to all the low-level-effectiveness items out there in my opinion. If you want to protect people from the SonicRock why not also protect people from a cable that costs thousands? The same subjective experience can be caused by swapping in a fancy high dollar interconnect just as much as by placing a SonicRock on your CD player. Why all the moral hand-wringing over one and not the other? Must be the in the delivery of the copy. Too much comedy and not enough genuine marketspeak. Hmmm...

They were concerned because you were running a successful parody of Audiogon's "certified" bullshitters and they became uncomfortable when there was the possibility of your ad gaining attention and causing future discussions regarding the ethics of distributing those types of products. That's my opinion of their anxiety.

Or it could be that they really like me and wanted to protect me from being scammed.

I just pulled my bid from the TT auction. Told Agone that if I couldn't purchase the Sonicrock, I didn't think the TT would work as well in my rig as far as synergy goes. Also mentioned that I thought some shill bidding was going on from GK supporters in the auction. I thought it would be a good joke to have someone here review the TT, but after reading the pages and pages of GK bullshit replies on AA (he believes that the color of the jacket on a PC makes a sonic difference for one), that's it for me. Sonicrock Nation!

Since we have shown ourselves willing, time and again, to plunk down gold for fairy tales and sawdust the blisters keep serving it up in the hope that their crap will be the next innovation to capitalize on our desire to be duped.

Now and again a small group of doubters such as you begin to wail in protest. When this happens sales escalate briefly, arguments ensue and the perps go back to their oujia boards to "develop" their next innovation, which you may well unanimously applaud, especially if Harry Pearson says he likes it.

No one with half a brain would buy MD's stuff. That's why I don't feel bad at all when people fall for it. GK goes out of his way to make the most outrageous claims he can think of - and they keep on buying. I can't feel bad for any one who would spend their money on it.

sell them for real! Make a nice name plate for them, or offer "custom" customer name plates, you know the ones with the real persons name on the little brass keychain you see at 7-11. Offer the upgraded quartz model that cleans the stray energy from the cd players clock, all about the power of crystals. Offer a scrolling led tag that you can program to tell you It Sounds Better!
