On the PC, foxit reader (3rd party pdf reader that isn't as much of a buggy, bloated memory pig as adobe reader is) says that it is encrypted by an unsupported security handler.

James, when I try to look at that pds on my mac, I just see 6 blank pages (the file is 1.8 meg)

Unfortunately it can't be viewed with Preview on the Mac, because it's wrapped in some funky DRM that communicates with a server somewhere. You have to download Acrobat for the Mac to read it, and you can't print it.

Here's the Stereophile Link:  http://www.stereophile.com/cdplayers/bryston_bcd-1_cd_player/

hello james,

in larry greenhill's review of the bryston, he stated that on a couple of occasions the disc tray delayed in opening after he hit the open button.
it may have been that the cd hadn't finished to the end. i've found that if i hit open and the cd is still playing, there will be a short delay.
just guessing here.

Hi Ed,

Ok - thanks for the tip - I will check it out.
You mean if you do not hit Stop first and just hit Eject?

yes, if you hit eject before hitting stop.

hi, ed h!

if done so...does your player shows 'error'?

hi alexone,

no, it doesn't show error. i think what happens to cause the delay is that when you hit eject before hitting stop, the player automatically goes to the stop mode, before ejecting the disk. this causes a momentary delay. so i'm thinking this is normal for this machine.
the reviewer in 'stereophile'  stated that on some occasions there was a 5 second delay in the drawer opening, so this may be something entirely different.
btw, anyone interested in reading the 'sterephile' critique on the bryston bcd-1, just look up :

hey oldguy,

if one has a life, it's probably a hobby.
in my case it's a way of life; or at least getting through it.
