Out of curiosity...I suspect we should soon see BDA-1 DACs hitting the streets, hey?

MEMO: To all Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: Bryston CD Player Review from France

May 20th, 2008

Hi All,

For those of you who speak French please email me and I will send you a PDF of a review we received from a very prestigious magazine in France called PRESTIGE AUDIO VIDEO.
Have a look at the distortion, or should I say ‘lack of distortion measurements’ on page 95.

For those who speak English the conclusion of the review reads:

"Not to be mislead. Despite its sober and discrete appearance, the BCD1 is one of those exceptional components that we have had the opportunity to listen to and review. One could have thought that this unit would be a serious student, doing well what it's supposed to do… considering its external appearance.

In fact, not so. Beyond providing a faithful reproduction of the music, it is capable of reproducing the ‘soul’ of a recording. This is where the difference stands between a good student and a virtuoso."

Pierre-Henri Penel
Prestige Audio Video

I have to say that our CD Player has been the most successful product launch in our history. There have been over 10 reviews now from all parts of the globe all agreeing that the Bryston CD Player is World Class - and this at a price that is Miraculous if I can quote from our Golden Ear Award.

Enough already, I believe I started this thread almost a year ago and now I feel bit embarrassed that I have yet to add the my BCD-1 to my line up, June, July I promise.

Alas, my tap is not setup for Guinness,  hopefully "Guinness in a can" would not be too insulting!

And just in case the picture of the box did not intice you enough.  For your viewing pleasure. 8)

My player arrived yesterday and the initial impressions are in line with all the reviews you have all seen in this thread.  I will be taking advantage of the Memorial Day Weekend to play extensively and will let you know if I stumble across anything "novel" that has not already been said about this player.

Another great product from our neighbors to the North.  The entire crew at Bryston should take a bow ......... well done.

I would like to have your impressions of the BCD-1, even if its already been said. I know you'll be spinning discs all long weekend, so let us know after you put it through the paces.
What # off the production line is yours? Mine is 35 and is silver as well. I would've preferred black.

Happy Listening!!

Looking foward to see it.  Allen lives around 10 minutes from me and is a good friend of a good friend of mine and knowing the type of stuff he has in his system, and the cost of the stuff, Bryston should be very proud to have made something of such good quality at its price point to receive such acclaim.

Hi Phil,

Yes I have always admired Allen because I know he is in it for the music and judges equipment under that criteria.  All I can say is this is overall the best review on the CD Player yet.

Subject: A HAPPY CUSTOMER

Hi Bryston:

My Bryston customer just called to report his findings on his new CD player. And I quote him:

"I am overwhelmed. "It is frickin' amazing. It is sweet, rich, and mellow sounding. I have 4000 new CDs now. I didn't know there was a mandolin playing on Billy Joel's Piano Man! I'm hearing new instruments on every piece of music.

This purchase has made me happier than anything else in my life for years. I was previously using Bryston gear (DA converter) and fabulous expensive cables but this is so much better."

He's happy, we're happy, have a good weekend!!

James,

I just received my July, 2008 issue of Stereophile and still no reveiw of the BCD-1.  Any word on when they plan to release that?

I noticed in the June, 2008 issue that Larry Greenhill still lists the BCD-1 in his "Associated Equipment" listing in connection with his review of the Revel Ultima Salon2.  Curiously, how long does Bryston allow reviewers to keep their review samples and what does Bryston do with the review sample after its return?

Thanks

Gary

Hi Gary,

With Stereophile it varies from person to person but Larry usually wants about 6 months before he does his final review - he is very thorough.

After the review sample comes back (so far none of the CD Players have) it will get sold as a demo unit to a dealer.

Yes you can but remember your then using the DAC in the SP2 not the DAC in the CD Player.
