My Nokia 770 from Woot.com has shipped and will arrive on Saturday.

Anybody getting theirs sooner?

George

Same message, same day.

Thanks again Wayne for the tip.   :thumb:  I'm excited to waste a bunch of time with this toy.

Josh,

You nailed it

As mentioned earlier, I have a Dell Axim w/ TelCanto, a Nokia 770, and most recently, an OQO   :o

Lots of money and time involved in trying to find the "Ultimate" remote interface for the SB.

I DO like the larger screen size of the OQO. I do NOT like how hot it runs. The price of one is absolutely ridiculous.

I will have all three of them available to play with at RMAF.

Cool, looking forward to seeing you there, Wayne... I'm booked! :)

I would imagine your Dell is very similar to my HP iPAQ 1955... It's Windows Mobile also.  I have 3 SB's throughout the house and being able to control each with 1 device is nice... but I hate using it.  It's so tiny and hard to deal with...

I was thinking of getting a tablet PC with a touchscreen like the Lenovo X60? I think... Maybe not one that is that expensive but that's the idea... Even still, the Slimserver interface has a long way to go to catch up with something as slick as iTunes...

For anyone interested in the Nokia's uses beyond the Squeezebox here's a link to a website dedicated to open source development for internet tablets:

Mine is charging and I will play around with it later tonight or tomorrow.

Right now I am too busy using my few quiet hours (wife has the boys out seeing Disney's Ratouille) comparing some NOS 6SN7's (thank you Woodsyi) in the Bella Extreme 100's.

I got mine yesterday and it's all setup using the Nokia770 skin.  While it works, it's not perfect -- at least not on my unit.  When on the "Now Playing" screen I have to scroll to the right to see all the info for some reason.  Dunno if that's by design or not.  It'd be neat if it could be set to completely do away with the requirement of using the stylus (some of the buttons are big enough you don't need it), but the screen is small enough that may be somewhat impractical.

This thing is a pretty cool little device though!

Anyone figure out how to use the black stands that came with the device?  I have two "Z" shaped plastic pieces that interlock.  They appear to be a stand for the 770, to tilt the 770, but I cannot figure out how they work.

Got mine this morning (from Buy.com).  Charged up the battery, and just set it up now:

Much slicker than I thought it was going to be, and the Nokia 770 Slimserver skin loads much quicker than I thought it was going to.  Am happy I got it!  :thumb:

FWIW, the two plastic Z-shaped pieces fit together and make a stand much like those stands that hold nice plates/dishes...(mine is sitting on the stand in the second picture)...

Btw - there's a button on the top-left of the unit (next to the zoom-in/out buttons) that give you a "full screen" mode (eg. no icons on the outside of the web browser).  If you press full-screen, you won't have the scroll issue when using the Nokia 770 skin... 8)

Looks like a pretty good deal on the 770. I briefly owned one last year and paid the full retail price at the local CompUSA store. I updated the OS to the latest available at the time (November 06), but still experienced connectivity problems. It always seemed to drop the connection after a while. Perhaps the unit didn't like my router :-)

The browser interface was a tad slow as well.

I figured the technology was not mature enough, being a first generation product. I ended up returning it a few days later.

Now, these latest Nokia 770 closeout deals got me thinking about getting another one. That is, if the OS and connectivity problems have been resolved.

OTOH, the new N800 is faster and a nice little unit.  Slim Devices Jive platform is also on the horizon, so perhaps I should wait for that.

Decisions, decisions!!

Man I hate networking...I never remember how to get to the place where I can find out what my network key is.  I need to add the key to the Nokia770 but alas I can't remember how to find the key.  :duh:

Phil,

If I remember correctly, you run OSX on a Mac?  Earlier in this thread, it was mentioned that the Nokia had a problem with Macs, and I was curious if this may be incorrect.

Thanks,

Mark

OK, I found where my WEP keys are.  Does anyone remember how to make the key visible? Basically when you highlight the key in the text box to make it visible to see?  There is some hotkey that does it, but I don't remember.

Thanks,

Ah yes, that definitely helps though there's still a tiny bit of info off the side of the screen for some reason.  Seems like the scrollbar covers up the last few bits of info for me.

I don't see how it would have a problem with a mac, as you're not really connecting directly to the mac itself, but to your wireless router, which also connects to your mac.  Unless of course there's some strange issue with the Nokia talking to the mac's version of slimserver.  I'd be kinda surprised if that were the case, though.

I have both Mac and Windows at home.  I run Slimserver on my Mac, but my wireless network is a standard 802.11g using an ActionTec router.  So far, no technical issues running the Nokia!

OK, first toggle back into non-full screen mode, then from the browser's pull-down menu, View->Show Toolbar->(uncheck) Full screen. Then toggle to full screen mode with the HW key on the top of the 770.
It should get you the whole now playing screen, with the bottom showing you your song/artist totals and about/server settings/player settings.
