Thanks Wayne.

Pretty sick price for a cool toy.

This would be much better than my Dell Axiom.

Has anybody used Woot before?  I have never heard of this site...

George

I've ordered from them several times and check the site daily (their copy is hilarious).  They have a huge following especially during woot-offs where they change product every time one runs out.  They also have great customer service. I ordered some lamps from them which had dead rechargable batteries. They gave me a full refund and gave me the manufacturer's support number. The company sent me new batteries for free. Not a bad deal.
The only downside is that they can be slow to ship sometimes.

Is there any way to make this work on a wired SB2 setup?
I can't visualize where/how to interface into the wired router???  I'm guessing it's not possible...but correct me if I'm wrong, it's just too cool :thumb:

I'm going to use it with my wire SB2, but you need a wireless router.  The Nokia doesn't connect to the SB2 directly, it connects to your router.

Pardon my ignorance Josh....will you daisy chain a second wireless router off your wired router, then run the Nokia from the wireless?

Thanks!

I have many routers at the moment. But I am only using one at the moment.  It is a wireless routers but also a wired router as most wireless routers have wired ports as well.

P.S.  You can 'daisy chain' routers together, but I think the technical term is bridging them.  M$ makes it pretty easy to bridge the routers, but they may not all play well together.   Mine have always worked out.   If you need a wireless router give me a PM. I have an older one that won't be SOTA but will work just fine for this purpose and is easy to use.  Free if you pay the shipping.

Josh,

Are you saying that I could buy a wireless router (technicall, wireless and wired) and daisy chain it to my wired-only router?  That would be cool, as I really need around 6 wired connections, but most routers only have four.  This would give me at least six to eight connections.

I am doing this right now with no issues.

Actually, if you already have a wired router, all you need is a wireless switch - no need for a 2nd router.

I'm not sure about today, but everytime I've looked in the past its always been cheaper to buy the wireless router.  Access points have been crazily expensive compared to a similar router.

Bryan

That's true.  I have two (or three?) tiny little switches that have four ports on them.  I think I'm only using one of them now, as I use them to add elements at the end of the run.  In other words, I ran cable to one room, and if I need two devices in that room, I install the switch.  However, I ran two network cables to each room so I'd probably be better off just hooking up the second cable.

Buy.com has it for 139.99 today if you missed the 129.99 yesterday and still want it.

The poster that Bryan was replying to needs to add wireless access to his current wired lan to best utilized the handheld.  Wired switches/hubs are much cheaper than wireless routers/access points, but they wouldn't accomplish what he needed.

P.S.  if anyone is looking for a killer router, I really like this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833127158

It has everything, hi-speed wireless, gigabit router (gigabit cards are cheap now, so why not?).  Its not quite as easy to setup as my previous no-brainer wireless, but not difficult either and it is rock solid.  Its fast, reliable and I get good signal throughout my house with my laptop which I didn't before.  No complaints.

That is a great deal.  It's $150 cheaper than other places.

Nokia must be closing the 770 out, because I just got an ad from buy.com advertising the 770 for $139.99.  For those of you who missed yesterday's special, here's another chance:

I'll second that.  It is a very good piece of gear.  I too get the best signal I've had out of 4 different routers.  I used to run 2 routers to get better signal but a lightning strike rode up the network wires and took out 3/4 of the jacks on each one (not all though it was really strange - I could switch ports and connection would come and go as I did it.  It didn't eat any computers, but it killed the jacks on a couple of pvr extenders I had too).  Now this one does better than both of the others did.

It also just works with Xbox live as is without any messing around.  One of the older routers I had, I could open everything and the xbox still couldn't get out.  This one just works.

I ordered the 770 from Woot.com the day this thread first came up (5 days ago). It arrived today. I guess Woot.com is OK.
