I am currently listening to the Zu absence. So far I am not happy with it at all.
Yeah - Grado headphones. See other thread for context.
After going to auto paint stores and poring over charts and chips and catalogs, I finally decided to go with the standard option Maserati Blue Nettuno. I figured it didn't make any sense to pay more money for a personal color selection that won't be worth any more at resale time and might well be harder to sell simply because it would be more difficult to demonstrate to potential buyers. Also I imagined that Zu had already looked at available colors and chosen the Maserati. And, lastly, I couldn't make up my mind so I just picked the blue because my wife hates red anything, I already had flat black and the piano finish shows dust too well. I'm not color blind but I may well be color stupid. So, I paid in advance while I still had the money from selling the Def Pros, and I'm expecting my new Presence in 2-4 weeks. Meanwhile I still have the Sig 30 and I am awaiting delivery of a Melody I2A3 integrated amp. I don't know which I will prefer but the advisers all think the Melody will be superior. Tubes, you know. I personally hope they are wrong because I like Siggie so much but what am I gonna do? How can I honor my own personal preference if the sound is better? I must be guided by the performance dictate, after all. As far as I know, no one has the Presence in their home as yet. Even Srajan, has no announced their arrival. So, I guess, things will remain quiet a bit longer.
macrojack, you're correct, like others I'm listening to the Absence so far but I'm pretty sure Zu wants to wrap up every last little tweak and what-not before they send something the long way to Club Med, have me review it and then discover something that makes it another 5% mo betta For those shopping amps for the Presence or Def, the F4 by Nelson Pass belongs on the list if you have an awesome preamp. The F4 is up there in Sig 30 and F3 land. Another contenduh I haven't heard yet but which is already in customs and should show up any day now is the Trafomatic Experience One - $1,750 with JJ 2A3-40s. Hard to screw up a 2A3 SET if you've got premium iron and seeing this company is a transformer maker and other folks have used it on 103dB Avantgardes (so no noise), I've got high hopes for another value-for-money find that just needs friendly speakers like the Presence and Def.Also second the Almarro tip. The A318B is killer but runs very hot, the li'l EL84s much friendlier in that regard.

Sonny - I've bought my last pair of speakers 7 or 8 times now. That fact makes me think I may not keep these forever. If I do, I can live with this color just fine since it is beautiful. If I decide to make yet another change, I want to have planned a graceful exit.
