It was late afternoon and was in the  high 80s and deck is on south side of house so I don't think it was a temp think. Only thing I could think of was it was trying to camouflage  itself and wait for prey to come by.

Roadrunner that hangs around my house. Anyone know what its doing in last shot? It was in that position with out moving for close to 10 min.

<snip>

I was thinking it might be feigning injury to draw a predator away from its nest?  Just a wild ass guess.

I was all set to ask about the setup when I saw these, but you already beat me to it.  Crikey, that's a serious lighting rig!

I feel a little like crying myself though, cause my photo gut is telling me "radius halos…HDR…BAD!!!" but in this case it IS just the lighting combo, right?  It's cool and all, but I'm conflicted.

i'm too lazy to sit in front of the computer spending 16hrs retouching an image when an extra 30mins setting up more lights will do the trick. i'm not sure how jill greenberg does it exactly (retouched vignetting or in camera) also i think she uses two lights from the front instead of 1 big para umbrella like me.

Awww...poor baby!  I know that's the kind of twisted baby photo that I'd like, but what do the parents think of this sort of look?  I mean the fact that the kid is crying, not the cool lighting.  Are they down with it?

My new Flipbac grip for Canon S95, which has been dropped a couple times, been to Canon for revival, been through many countries, yet remains the camera to beat for compactness and image size.
