When the band refused to get off the stage the club owner was forced to release the sulfuric gas.  Twenty people were found dead, but the survivors said it was a rocking show, all things considered.

Wow, Nathan, I really like that piece.  Reminds me of a planet at its primordial beginnings.  The face in the mountain in the background seemingly gaping at the volcanic eruption is very cool too. I interpret it as partially due to formation and partially due atmospheric debris like an optical illusion.  I also really like your piece called "Cross Section".  Nice work, sir.

Hmmm, if your penis looks anything like a volcano, I'd see a doctor as soon as possible!

So Nathan, are you burning the midnight oil or painting with it?  :thumb:

Most definitely!  Well more accurately,  I'm burning the 3AM oil and painting with gum arabic! :)

A little mischief:

The shot glass is a litte iffy (too sharp?), but the mug worked really well.

great photo, ooheadsoo, but I want to straighten it!

Aren't the trees a degree off vertical?

You may be right, Russell - I'm not sure the trees were growing straight in the first place, you're right, the picture might indeed look a little better rotated just a tad.

This next shot is probably my favorite of the trip.

My apologies if you said earlier, but where was your trip?

Great shots man, very nice!  :thumb: Keep 'em coming (please).

Uh, that was already my best shot.  All the rest are pretty lackluster.

Trip was to Alaska.  Wonderful trip, good photo weather right now.

I like the colours on this last one - I wonder what makes the water so green.

This is the kind of subject that has me lusting after the new Sigma DP2 - and thinking maybe the DP1, which can be had so cheaply now that the DP2 has been released, would make even more sense because of the wider angle lens.
Images like this blow me away:

... well I tried to upload an image, but couldn't even find the gallery after ten minutes of trying, so gave up!

Very nice tone.

Glacier melt tends to be deep green or blue-green depending on the mineral content of the water.

Denali, or Mt. McKinley isn't so easy to spot from the National Park because it's usually wreathed with clouds.  Sorry, the purple isn't natural, but it sure beats the pale faded green/blue/yellow/brown it looked like after I got the contrast where I wanted it.  In real life, it was a very pale faint blue tinged with brown with almost no contrast at all.  I believe the mountain is about 90 miles away from where we were.

Interesting photo. It's amazing what moving water, a little grit for abrasion and 13,000 years can produce.

Lucky shot from a Panasonic Lumix DM C-LZ8.  We had just finished splitting wood last Christmas and wanted to check out the new camera.  Not bad for a point and shoot.
