Nice Namibia shots, gfroman! Not that I expected anything other than great stuff from you...
I don't think there's any light anywhere else in the world like you get in Namibia (even when we can't use it quite the way you can)!

Secret Antelope Canyon - Page, AZ. Secret Antelope Canyon is a different canyon than Antelope. The canyon is shorter and has less visitors, our tour had only 5 people. The expanded tour included a private Horseshoe Bend viewing site that is lower and closer to the bend, we were the only group there.

Almost impossible to take a bad picture in Antelope Canyon. What a spectacular place and a must visit if you are vacationing in southern Utah (as are Zion and Bryce canyons).

Toadstool Hoodoos - Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Photos are taken with a Pixel 7 without any filters, this is what the landscape really looks like. AllTrails maps pre-downloaded to a smartphone really help, there is zero cell service out there.
I rarely saw anybody on most of my hikes and I was hiking alone. By contrast Zion was a zoo, thousand of tourists swarming everywhere. My plan was to drive to the Zion Visitor Center from Kanab, Utah to gather information for a future visit. The huge parking lot was 100% full with a steady stream of cars still driving in. I bailed as quick as I could.

Navajo Bridge - the original bridge design was copied when a stronger bridge for traffic was built. The original is now for pedestrians only. Two California Condors were sitting on the supports but very hard to photograph, one was directly below me but I wasn't willing to hold my phone out over the canyon.

Redwall Bridge - North Kaibab Trail - North Rim - Grand Canyon
A fantastic day hike for experienced hikers only. The 8240' elevation, trail steepness, direct sun and extreme heat will literally kill a few non-hikers every year. On May 30th this year, the Grand Canyon Facebook page posted that in just the last week, Grand Canyon National Park staff conducted 13 helicopter medevac missions — responding to heat illness, dehydration, hyponatremia (low sodium from overhydration), and lower leg injuries. And it wasn't as hot as it is now.
I started my hike at 6:30 am and finished 5 hours later with many stops to enjoy the scenery.
Redwall Bridge is 2.6 miles below the trailhead with a 2200 ft. elevation change. The bridge is 6/10 mile past the Supai Tunnel and 800 ft. lower.

Now this is something I would enjoy. Outstanding trail venue. Reminds me of the time I scaled Mt. Fuji (with an overnight stay and early summit). Had no problem crashing after day one.

Buckskin Gulch - Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument

A water hike, the puddles are deceiving. Each series of pools I encountered was thigh deep, if I went right at the junction with Wire Pass the puddles would be waist deep. Once again I had the entire canyon to myself.

Grosvenor Arch - Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument
Photo taken 6/15/2025
Grosvenor Arch is 10 miles South of Kodachrome State Park on Cottonwood Canyon Road (400), an unpaved gravel washboard road. Cottonwood Road continues another 30 miles South to US Highway 89, all of it a hilly, washboard gravel and very scenic and highly recommended. My Outback did just fine, a regular car would make it (sorta kinda), a low riding Prius would not. None of the gravel roads in Grand Staircase-Escalante are drivable when wet, the roads become a mud/clay sinkhole.

I have never seen bighorn sheep in the wild. The Catalina Mountains above Tucson have bighorn sheep but after decades of hiking they have eluded me, if I ever did see them they would be on a ridge far, far away.
30 miles South of Kodachrome State Park on Cottonwood Canyon Road I had to make a sudden stop. Three bighorn sheep jumped out in front of my Outback and scrambled up the sheer cliff on my left. The Paria river was on my right so I guessed the sheep were going home after browsing and drinking.
I guess I'm faster than I thought. I rolled down the window, grabbed my phone and guessed which way they went. As you can see from the photos, bighorn sheep blend into the landscape very well. It appears the group was made up of two females and a juvenile, the last bighorn stopped for a photo op.

Bighorn sheep also have a sense of humor, this one is mooning me and giving me a raspberry
