D200's and Quad ESL 57's
« on: 10 Jun 2007, 08:01 pm »
Are the d200's able to drive 57's?
If yes has any done this or heard a system like this?

Many Thanks

My bud and I hooked up my D-200's to his Martin Logan CSL speakers. No problem driving the crap out of them. M.L. similar to the quads???

I would be careful, looks like they have too much power.

I owned 57's for many years, and I don't think you want to put more then 50 watts into them.  You can burn the panels if you feed them too much power.

I drove them for many years with a stock Dynaco ST-70.  It did a good job, but at one time, I auditioned a old Eico integrated, and they sounded great with that guy.  Only reason I did not buy it was I could not figure out at the time how to hook up a sub to it (I could now, but that was a while ago).  I don't the the 57's anymore, but that was a sweat combination.

Shouldn't be any problem...we have a few customers using them with Quad 63's (similar impedance curve).

Removed my response.

Just saw your response about a protection board, which I assume will protect from too much power.
