OMG half a tree just fell through my roof.......

Not many Aussies up right now at 2:45 am. But as you know we've been having some storms lately. A bit of wind is nothing new... this is new though:

That must be a foot in diameter.... here's the rest of it, watching this guy fall past my bedroom window after the huge banging noise was... uh... quite a trip...

OK, well, at least it's only the deck. Waitamminit, not much joy when I climbed into the roof...

Well, the only good news is that it's not raining right now. But by tomorrow, who knows. And I ain't sleepin' upstairs tonight (if I sleep at all)....

And by the way, that tree has the mark of death on him now, regardless of what the Council treehuggers say

That is a bummer! This is why I'm trying to cut down most of the trees that over hang the house.

Is that a metal roof?

Yeah, it's pressed to make it look like tiles.

I had that freakin tree trimmed barely more than a year ago. They wouldn't take any more off of it. They will now, that's for dang sure.......

Some unexpected bathroom remodeling here:

Garrhhhg... oh well, I called the insurance company and "Samantha" was very helpful. They'll be in touch tomorrow...

Woah! That looks like a very nice bathroom, too. My friend had a tree split in half and each half fell and hit his house. Luckily, these were "glancing" blows (had the tree not split and fell, the house would've been gone). Still, he had a ton of damage. His wife said the whole house shook. It took a while to cut the tree down and fix everything.

Yeah, the bathroom is probably the only part of the house that doesn't (didn't) need renovating

Oh, and the roof.

Aaaanyway. I better go move stuff away from under the hole in case it starts pouring again. Much as I love living in a bushy area, I think this might be just a little toooo close to nature

I'm not sure but I will be finding out soon

Well, I can't imagine this one wouldn't be allowed to be taken down after this.

Sorry this happened to you. This reminds me of an incident 2 years ago while hurricane Fracis or Ivan was causing havoc in Western NC. An older couple was sleeping in their bed and around 4 AM a huge tree uprooted and fell on their bedroom roof. The tree fell right on top of the husband ... crushed and killed him. The wife escaped with minimal injuries. Hope everything works out.
