Outstanding James... looks great!

Two questions... does the code for the BP26 also work for the BP25?  Also, are the analog outs variable?  The manual does not specify that the VOLUME control on the remote is exclusive to outside compatible components...

HI,

1. Yes the CD remote will work with the BP25

2. The analog outs are not variable at the moment but we can do that in the future if we wish (software upgrade)

3. The CD Remote will only work with other Bryston components.

If the analog outs are variable via the digital domain wouldn't there be resolution loss as you reduce from full output?

The variable outs would make it a sure-fire piece for myself if there is no fidelity comprimise... I requested that long ago here when you were inquiring our input...

Yes digital variable outputs always have a resolution loss - that is why we are looking into it further before we decide how to overcome the compromise.

What gives a better sound? CD play through analog out or let the SP2 do the DA conversion?

The CD Player has a good internal D to A converter.  It is imperative to say that the CD Player will sound good when used as stand-alone player.

Hi Hoiman,

Have a look at the literature on the CD Player on our website. There is a section on the first page called ADVANTAGE. I think it will go a long way to answering your question.

In terms of sound quality I guess we’ll know soon enough as we start weeding through the subjective and objective reviews. But as a pro Bryston fan I’m sure they have done their homework, I’m planning to pick one up to replace my aging but venerable workhorse a Teac VRDS-20.
Also, James are there pics of the inners available for those curious few who like to take a peek of the under the hood?

Hi Rob,

The 'innards' are being photographed this weekend so I should have some next week for you.

Yes the unofficial picture was a very early engineering prototype.

James,

Will a block diagram be available? I assume it uses an async sample rate converter; I'm interested in how that is being clocked.

Not sure I will check with engineering.

James,

This one is easy.
The BCD1 does not use a sample rate converter.

if jitter is the case with using an external dac, then why even bother having all of those digital outputs on your player??  it just adds to the costs, does it not?
