I worked for a record store in the 80's and the major labels never put more than 25/box. More than that's asking for trouble due to weight/cardboard strength. I just went to the UPS site and one 12 pound box(25 LP's) to NYC is $8.16 or a 25 pound box(50 Lp's) is $13.18 so shipping would be less than $100. That's to NYC. To SanFrancisco it about doubles to $16.16 for 12 pounds and $29.99 for 25. So, much cheaper than I thought! My shipper would probably only charge $2/box if she has the right size. It's critical to have proper sized boxes. Actually I have a lot of gatefolds, doubles and 180 gram on the list that would increase the overall weight a bit. Most regular Lp's are about 8 ounces with a polybag. I still think those prices above are really close.
