Hello everyone, my name is Pete.

I heard about you all while shopping for some new audio equipment. Electricbear (super guy btw) was gracious enough to point me in your direction and voila! Here I am.  I am fairly new home audio and look forward to getting to know some of you and learning more about this hobby.

Run, Pete!  Run!!  On this path lies madness!!

 :D

Tim is a great 'front man' that actually gives the rest of us the look of credibility.
Glad to meet you, actually, Pete.  Hope to see you at some of the local gatherings at one time or another.
I'm sure you'll find something to trip triggers you didn't know you had around here somewhere..
Welcome aboard!

Regards,
DeadFish

Welcome Pete!
Deadfish is right. There's danger in these waters! We have our fun. You're welcome to join us at our next event which is a pipe organ concert schedulled to happen the evening of June 14 at Christ Church Cathedral, downtown. It will be recorded as well so we're hoping to be flies on the wall to see a real recording engineer at work. We've heard prior recordings by the organist and engineer and they're without a doubt the best recordings of pipe organ we've heard.

Here's a link to that thread...http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=38372.0

Welcome aboard!

Welcome.

This is a great bunch of guys.  You'll hear a ton of different things in terms of equipment and music.  You just have to be open minded about things like tubes, single driver speakers, soldering after a couple single malts (not that anyone would do that...)

Pete,
Welcome to the mix. You may want to think long and hard about this. hooking up with these guys is like joining the mob ( very dangerous  ). It can also be very bad for your love life. What I can say is they are a great group of guys and you can hear just about any kind of gear you can think of. Look forward to seeing you at the recording session.

Welcome aboard Pete  :thumb:

Don't worry. You'll be just fine (financially) as long as you don't go to anybody else's house in the group. The minute you step through that first door, there is no going back. It's sorta like stepping into the Twilight Zone.

Pete,

I'd also like to welcome you to the group.  I can vouch for the previous post(s) in that these guys will really make you feel at home.  That's the good news.  Along the lines as to what Scott suggested, hide your check book and credit cards FROM YOURSELF.  These folks are more than happy to convert you to their evil ways...Squeezebox...Full range drivers...SET.  But hey, it's all for fun and for entertainment purposes only.   And remember these words "But honey, I'm only auditioning it to see if I really want to buy one for myself..."    :icon_lol:

It is a good thing that I don't own any credit cards.  Been there and done that.
As I picked out several CD's for last weeks audition, my girlfriend asked me what I was doing?
I said: "I am picking out some tunes for tomorrow's audition."
With a confused look on her face she asks:
"What kind of audition...?"  :?
I explained that it would be too hard to explain.  So that afternoon , after the audition, I get home and she asks:
"How did the audition go...?"
"Oh it went well!  It was very informative"
"What did you buy now???" She probed
"Nothing...yet" was my reply... :green:

With that said, I know all about the auditions...haha!

Pete,

Trust me on this one, don't spend any money yet. You really need to make the rounds to a few guys homes to hear some of the gear that the shops in town don't carry. If you don't, you are liable to hate yourself once you hear some of the guys systems.

Hey Pete,

I just wanted to post a correction. The recording session on June 14 will not be at Christ Church Cathedral. It'll be at First Unitarian Church at Kingshighway and Waterman. I'll post this on the recital/recording thread as well. See ya there!!
