A question about Bugle connection
« on: 22 May 2007, 02:18 pm »
I wish to locate my turntable with Bugle across the room from my line amp. (preamp). I am planning to use twin shielded cable (Belden #9454) because of its low capacity of 12 pf/ft. This would result in 420 pf. for my 35 ft. run. Allowing for line amp. input strays, this would result in loading the Bugle output with about 500 pf. According to reactance calculations, this would cause negligible level loss anywhere near the audio band, but what about distortion and/or stability? RFI has never been a problem in our location.
Can anyone give me any encouragement that this will not degrade the sound? What about such a long cable run?

The long cable run at the output of a BUGLE is fine.  The real issue becomes grounding.  This is a perfect situation to run the BUGLE from batteries.  The situation gets more difficult with a likely introduction of hum if ac power supplies are connected at both ends plugging into different outlets and/or branches.
