Is a pair of subs worth doing?
Well that is up to you as far as how the bass reacts in your room as well as the over all quality of bass that is important to you.
Below is some measured in room response in my HT room which is 14X22 which is very well damped walls plus 3 bass traps( one in the opposite front corner and one in each rear corner.
The SD12 single driver is posted first then the twin is posted below.
The single uses a 16" sealed cabinet and the twin SD12 uses a 18" sealed cabinet.
All the tests were done one after the other in the same room the mic from the SMS1 for measurements was positioned at ear level in the middle of the room.
On the SD2 (twin driver) the graphs shows the SD2 with a LT1300 amp with boost and with out boost and last is with the boost on the LT1300 amp plus the auto EQ was activated on the SMS1.
Other than that the SMS1 was used for measurement only as you can see the slider bar at the bottom on the graphs to show if the SMS1 EQ was used or not.
Below is the SD12 in a 16" sealed cabinet with settings of eq and boost on the A400 amp with the cabinet in the front of the room positioned in the middle of the front wall.

Now same settings with the sub positioned in the corner.

Last the twin SD12 sub positioned in the corner of the room.
The twin graphs show the LT1300 amp with the crossover settings of 50hz and 100hz one graph with no boost (6db) and the other same crossover settings with the boost on.

Now both designs are sealed for easy of contruction.
