Yesterday I went to the Munich High End show.

I created an album with some picts: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?action=gallery;area=browse;album=1077.

My favorite speakers of the show were the Lithophon Miracle. The most impressive system was  MBL's.

Here is probably the most expensive speaker of the show:

I saw those hanging speakers in Dwell mag but thought they were planters!

The MBL setup was 300,000 Euros ( $400,000 ) without cables  :D

The solo violin recording I heard was far too big and sounded electronic.

Hi,

Bruno, thanks for the pictures. I was there too, and there were some really nice setups, like MBL, which I liked a lot as well.

@Lonewolfny42

I only heard the bigger WLM speakers, and for me they just sounded terrific I think 6moons got it right on this one. Another 6moon favourite, the AMR gear I found rather disappointing soundwise, perhaps it was the room. Lookwise the AMR gear is second to none and I hope I will be able to listen to it in future in a different room, they can't sound that bad. BTW the AMR setup consisted of the AMR Disk Processor, AMR amplifier and the AMR speakers.

Best

The treble was very nice, a bit disconnected from the rest. The midrange and bass were strange. Can't comment about the stereo effect.

Please take all my comments with a big grain of salt. I always tried to sit as close as possible to the speakers to decrease room effects (most rooms had no acoustic treatments).
Then I choose  a seat in the middle between the two speakers. Most of the time it was impossible to sit where I wanted. Often, when sitting close to the speakers, the sound was too loud and/or too bright. When this happens, I left the room and tried to audition another one. Each time, they were playing another piece of music making comparison even more diffcult.

I remember a comparison between vinyl and CD (I think it was with the Kharma speakers). Vinyl was brighter and more defined in the mid and low frequencies.

There seems to be nobody who finds MBL average. Either be euphoric about the stuff or hate it. Personally, I was massively disappointed about the setup. I have to agree that the violins sounded electronic, maybe because of these 4000W coffins? I listened to the Electrocompaniet Nemo connected with KEF reference speakers and was impressed that a 600W monster can have soul, but this is probably the biggest possible solution.
My vavourite at the show was the Martion Orgon. No horn-sound in a negative sense like Tannoy or Avantgarde, just realism.
The WLM speaker had probably the best treble at the show, too sad it is secret how it works. But also here I have to agree, the rest, especially the midrange, didn`t match.

Bruno,

Did you see the new Shelter Harmony cart?  Looks very cool from the pics.
