Library CDs
« on: 12 May 2007, 02:29 am »
My wife picked up some kid's music CDs from the library. She wants to extract some music from them to put as background music for some DVDs she is making. The odd thing is that each of them have this obvious pair of metallic vertical strips about a sixteenth inch wide and about 3 inches long on either side of the center. She is afraid to put them in her computer for fear of these metallic strips will mess her computer.

Has anybody seen them before and know what they are? Thanks.

If I were to take a guess I'd say they're the anti-theft strips which sets off the alarm if someone tries to make off with the CD without checking it out.  This is of course a guess and I could be completely wrong.

Thats what they are...anti theft devices. You'll have no problem...they won't hurt your computer. I've borrowed many Cd's from my library...just wish people would take better care of them....prints and scratches.
Give them a slight cleanup before listening...... :thumb:
