If I buy Bryston DAC card, can I get anything for already installed phono stage?

Hi Sasha,

Never been asked that before. I do think we could do anything because we are the manufacturer and we would not be able to sell a 'used' modular phono stage circuit board.

We did have one customer (wanted the DAC) that purchased the BP1.5 phono stage and we used his old MM section and a new MC section to make an outboard MM/MC phono section for him.

Maybe hang in there till we have an outboard DAC.

Thank you James for suggestion.
My understanding was that Bryston will not offer standalone DAC unit, it will be offered only as a part of new CD player?
And if I may make a suggestion, Bryston developed standalone DAC unit with USB port capable of receiving bit transparent 24/96 signal, I am sure it will become a big selling point in a very near future.
Bryston could make a success story bigger than what Benchmark made with their DAC-1.

Hi Sasha,

Yes our plan is to release the CD Player at the end of this month- we are hundreds backordered so it will take awhile to catch up.  Then we are looking at designing an outboard DAC with COAX, AES-EBU, Optical and USB inputs.

James,

How far away are you with outboard DAC?
I have been considering DAC-1, but if Bryston is coming out with the one that has all the connectivity you described, and on top of that will be built with discrete components instead of op-amps, it ought to be a top performer?
How long I have to exercise patience?
