I'd like to be able to say that I replaced a pair of Snell Type D's with a pair of Salks and that I have no regrets.   I live in SW Florida.

I made a mistake selling my Veracity STs....and now multiple speakers have a pair of Sourcepoints 8s...really good speakers in their own way, but I have my eyes open for Salks in the mid Florida area that have all the packing and that I can pick up without shipping.

If you are looking for an alternative to the Veracity STs, you might take a look at the Ascend Acoustics ELX. They use cross-ply bamboo V-LAM so the cabinets are much less resonant.

https://forum.ascendacoustics.com/showthread.php?2597-Sierra-The-Cabinet&p=22500#post22500

The Ascend Acoustics ELX use a superior quality RAAL tweeter (RAAL 70-20XR-AM) compared to the lower quality RAAL 64-10 used in the Salk Veracity STs.

https://forum.ascendacoustics.com/showthread.php?7715-We-Saved-The-Best-For-Last!/page68

The ELX also use a very high quality, custom 6" Seas midrange driver and two custom 6" Seas bass drivers (400 Hz and below.)

The ELX was designed with a more sophisticated measurement system (the Klippel NFS) than Salk used.

I owned and very much enjoyed My Salk HT1-TL speakers, and I have a high regard for Dennis Murphy's work and the beauty of the Salk cabinets combined with the quality of the parts, construction, and sound.

With Salk in happy retirement, however, folks should be aware that there are other American loudspeaker companies doing equally admirable work.

My son owns the HT1-TL...maybe the first one ever made with the RAAL 140???....fantastic loudspeaker which I enjoy every time I get to hear it.  I've always been curious about the Ascend...but there is just something about the Salk cabinets...and then there is that great sound.

I thought the Veracity ST’s used the RAAL 70-20 tweeter , not 64-10 ….

Anyways , I own both the super charged song towers and ELX Ribbon towers …

I was looking for a used pair of Veracity’s last year and finally gave up … bought the ELX Ribbons … very happy … still own the Salks and the ELX’s…

Here’s a review I wrote …

I believe that both the Veractiy and the ELX us the RAAL 70/20 with the ELX probably having some advantage because of having a midrange...but then again, the Veracity crosses the RAAL pretty low, around 1700 hz I believe, which may be preferred by some.

The picture shown was a one-off custom speaker.  The Veracity models use the 70-20 RAAL with the amorphous core magnets.

Yeah , my Salks aren’t going anywhere, ever…. I love everything about them.
I needed another set of speakers last year and wanted a pair that would dig a little deeper than my SCST’s , and since I love them so much I figured the Veracity ST’s would be perfect..
Alas , I couldn’t find a suitable pair at a fair price so I opted for the ELX’s….
They’re great , I figure as close as I can get to a pair of higher end Salks.

I prefer the mids and highs of the SCST’s slightly, and prefer the bass of the ELX’s …
The ELX is pretty much perfect for me …. Now , if Salk was still around, well …..

I had a pair of SCST"s that I liked very much but had the same problem with the bass. Try these vibration isolators between the plinth and the feet. Really helped mine.

If you are on hardwood and not carpet try
