I don't usually recommend NV red wine but this one seems to be a special case.  I have been saying the Spanish wines are the bargains at restaurants.  In fact, we have had Spanish wines the last two years at the Shanahans dinner during RMAF.  I mean how often do you see a RP 93 red wine for under $15?  Cellartracker has it 88.7 with 86 reviewing.  This is pretty good really.  As a reference, even the best wines costing hundreds top out around 93-94.  All the comments are saying it is really good for the money ($16.77 average paid).  If you like Riojas, Priorats and Ribera del Dueros, you just have to try this blend.  With $12 shipping on a case, it comes out to $15.99 a bottle on a case deal.  This would make a great everyday drinking wine.  I am in for a case.

Sold out.   :(

I'll check elsewhere and see if it can be had for that price.

That was quick.  I got the e-mail at 10:52 and got my order in at 11:50.  Must be a good deal! :wine:

Here is a store near you with fair shipping rate to you.  Out of state also means no tax.

For all you wino's who look for audio and wine bargains try this site    https://www.wtso.com
Flash auction of all things made of grape juice.  They pay the freight and again the tax man doesn't get involved.  Most of the wine's have reviews by Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Tanzer, Halliday, etc.  Wide range of areas and styles.  I have used the site for years and Fedex has never crashed a bottle yet.

So I signed up and have viewed some offers.  This is like a few that I am already on.  It's an on line clearing house for wines that don't sell at their initial offering price and need deep discount to move.  You can find good deals if you can separate the wheat from the chaff because some wines can't be discounted deep enough.  There are some they would have to pay me to drink. :duh:

The ones I list here are more like loss leaders.   You gotta get there early to get in on one. 8)  And I also take advantage of free shipping on case basis without tax.  It beats buying locally as I would pay 10% tax which usually wipes out the case discount.

Rasteau is a brand new AOC.  It used to be bottled and sold as Cotes du Rhone (CdR) but the commune earned it's own AOC as of 2009 vintage.  I love Chateauneuf du Papes  (CdP) and CdRs are mostly watered down version of the CdPs with lower price to reflect that.  I am getting the sense that Rasteaus are more CdPish in taste than CdR but at a price more in line with CdR than CdP.  Parker rated this particular wine 93 which is no slouch.  Cellar tracker is at 89.9, which again is very good for wines under $20.  I am giving a case a try.  BTW, Xavier's CdP, Anonyme, is very good.

Parker sold the WA but still has a controlling interest.  If it isn't a Bordeaux he probably didn't taste it.  He has other minion's who taste for him in other areas of the grape world.  That doesn't mean good or bad but if you purchase a wine because in the past Parker gave it a good rating it may reflect that you and Parker like the same qualities in a wine.  I bought a Spanish with a 92 rating and poured it down the drain.  Found out later Jay Miller and I don't agree on what a 92 point profile should be.

Good Beaujolais at cheaper than supermarket price.  90 on Cellar Tracker means it is good drinking wine.  The only issue I see is that you should drink it soon but Thanksgiving and the holidays are coming.  This would make great tailgating wine too.  I am in for 2 cases.

Wow.  I wish I lived in the US.

Great to see some Cru Beaujolais lovers.  I was in Beaujolais this summer.  Don't worry, the good ones can keep - little known fact, particularly the Moulin a Vent.  I've had 10 yr old ones that are fantastic.  Drink them on the cool side of serving temperature, like 15C/55F, much better that way.

Torre de Ona Finca San Martin Rioja Crianza 2012

Wine Spectator #58 last year consistently rated 90-91 by just about all pro reviewers.  Close to 89 on Cellar Tracker.

For $11.95   Regular price is 15-17 -- so it's not a great sale, but the wine is a good value at anywhere around 15 in your local wine shop.  I think the bargains are in Spanish wines right now.  I keep seeing great QPR on Spanish wines.  I have 3 other wines from La Rioja Alta and they are all delicious.  Of course, the ones I have are reservas that cost more but I am betting this one fares well.  I am in for two (cases).

I need to replenish my everyday drinking wine stock.  I put a serious dent in the reserve during the Blizzard of '16 that kept me in the house for 5 days. 8) :wine:

Her 2012 got great reviews.  2013 was not a good vintage.  2014 is supposed to be a better vintage than 2012.  Good, happy, fruit-forward Oregon Pinots are great everyday drinkers.  You don't usually find  much brooding depth but they are approachable early.  With the hot summer, I am expecting a fruit-bomb for sure.  For whatever reason, when I put in an order for 12 Wine Access threw in a $50 discount for me.  Don't know if I had accrued some rebate or not.  If you get it, it's a steal at less than $16.  I am giddy with the purchase.  >$20 is still a very good price.

It's interesting what wines are sold in different countries at different prices.  While I was in Iceland and Britain last year,  I checked out a few wine stores to see what wines were being sold for what price.  I found different prices than in the USA -- some were higher and others, lower.  There is definitely a market inefficiency that you can take advantage of but not enough to overcome shipping and tax stuff overseas.

I usually bring my own wine on the road.  For London, I took these wines to celebrate the New Years.

Did I just see "wine" and "tailgating" in the same sentence? http://www.audiocircle.com/Smileys/audiocircle/icon_eek.gif  I must be lowbrow, as I've never considered bringing wine for tailgating.  Alas, I no longer drink beer, so not sure what I'd drink for tailgating.  Maybe I should consider wine...or some whiskey.

You can do a lot more than just wings, burgers and hot dogs for tailgate.

This was what I sent out last year for home opener.

Quote
Anyway, y'all are cordially invited to join us for the first tailgate and the others.  I will set up shop by 12:30 for the 3:30 game at the same place.  I got in a discussion with some friends over Belgian beers last week and I am inspired to go with a Belgian theme for this game.  We will start with steamed mussels with garlic, butter and parsley paired with Stella Artois.  Pate and cheese will be paired with Champagne (Foie gras with sauterne will be available).  Main course will feature grilled Belgian Boudin sausage as well as German wursts paired with Trappist and Lambic beers.  Dessert will be Belgian chocolate cake paired with Auslese Riesling.  There will be red wine too just because I have to have it.  Mixed salad will be available throughout.  We will also feature Martinis as Robin has developed a taste for Vodka -- it started with Brennivin in Iceland....

Worked out great.  I tote a propane grill, butane burner and and a propane oven -- all portable.   :thumb:

This is a lovely little red.

http://www.shopwinedirect.com/cantina-zaccagnini-il-vino-dal-tralcetto-montepulciano-dabruzzo-doc-2014.html?vfsku=italr336&vfsku=italr336&gpla=pla&gclid=CITQo4_Wg9ICFUi5wAodYIsFDA

I like Montepulciano d'Abruzzos.  They are usually fruity and well balanced with smooth tanins -- good drinking wine that is approachable young.  It won't wow you with depth but a classic low (medium) ceiling- high floor wine. :wine:
