Transformer Hookup
« on: 26 Mar 2007, 11:00 am »
Hi all,

I am wondering how to hookup my Avel Lindberg trafo in phase from the mains to the power supply so there will be less noise overall. Any suggestions thanks.

Regards,
Ray

There is a phase checker sold in the US. THat would give you the right phase when correctly install

If you don't want to get the phase checker here is what you do, i recommend this as this is audio

Power everything up when in right or wrong phase both will work.

In the wrong phase
Soundstage is wide but there is no focus, and can sound thin

When in right phase

there is more focus and everything sounds better

Hi Nicholas,

So if I have the secondaries in phase, and I'm doing a centerTap, and I'm using either Red and Orange or Black and Yellow for the centerTap and the others are going to the AC of the power supply. Will it matter which two groups I would use to keep in phase?

By the way, I will be hooking up the two primaries together. Blue and Violet, Gray and Brown. I figure i'll use the Gray and Brown for the "neutral" side.
