Hi!

I'm currently using a first generation DVD, a Sony DVP-S725D, as CD transport. It works and sounds very good, while I haven't made many comparisons at least it betters a Toshiba entry level DVD, a NEC external CD-ROM and a Philips CD620 (CDM4 transport) as transport.
One essential drawback however is that it doesn't read CD-Rs and I'm therefore considering getting a new transport. I've read lots of good stuff from people using PCs, Squeezebox transports and Olive Musicas as transports. Since I'd like to keep the number of machines down I'm thinking of getting a DVD with an internal hard-drive, and then transfer my CDs to the harddrive and use it as a transport to my NOS DAC.
Does anyone have any comments on this idea, and maybe even suggestions on what DVD machine would serve my purposes?
Johan
