My feeling on your question is as follows:  The Fried's are a smooth speaker and therefore will do best with a solid-stae amp with a little fowardness.  I recommend:

2).   Ayre AX7e

3).  Sim Audio I-5

4).   Blue Circle nscs

I am toiling between solid state and tubes, and the tubes just keep calling, like a rogue tempest II but I am all for persuasion...

Response Audio makes a heck of a modded Jolida....a nice 1 box solution that won't disappoint in the bass dept.
