Side Firing verses Front Firing Woofers
« on: 8 Feb 2007, 03:41 am »
I would like to read inputs from the AC at large.  I have listed to both types of speakers in auditioning rooms.  Obviously they both sounded  very good, thus I am looking for feedback in home setup experiences.  Are the side firing designs more forgiving and allow more setup options?  Is there a loss in coherence with side firing verse front firing?

Actually, if anything, Ive had a bit tougher time with the side firing woofers.
In some rooms, especially smaller ones, those side firing woofers have been
tough to get a bump out of the bass.

The best results I've had in my main listening room has been with the speakers
in a corner arrangement rather than in the standard thirds setup.

Of course all of this will vary with your room size, ceiling height and the like.

I would just suggest if you have a pair of these type of speakers home to try out
and you can't get the bass where you want it, try a corner setup, it might
be the magic that you are seeking!

Good luck!
