Has anyone owned or experienced Salk speakers with VAC gear?

Just wondering if there's anyone who's heard Salk Veracity speakers with VAC gear. I know there are a several Salk Veracity owners who like the Moscode 401 as this amp is also on my list. Will be putting together a new system soon, so I'm still in research stage.

Jim has run his speakers with Jolida tube gear often. I am sure he will jump in here. I did hear the V3's powered by a 40 wpc Jolida integrated and it was superb. So the best I could offer in my limited experience with tube gear is that right now. I am a Moscode user (believer) and for me I am very satisfied.

What surprised me about the V3's was how easily they lit up a room. I still have Jim's prototype V3's in my HT, but shhhh, don't tell anyone.

The V3's are much more sensitive than the HT3's (which you pay for in the form of less bass reach), so that's a plus for tubes. There is one small area where the impedance drops to 3 ohms. This is not a problem for Jim's tube amps, but I can't promise every tube design would be unaffected. BTW--most commercial 3-ways have similar impedance droops, even though they are not reported. It's very difficult to avoid in passive 3-way designs with flat frequency response in the 100-800 Hz range.

Thats good to know Pete and DMurhpy. I was wondering if we were going to get more feedback on the V3's. I know you had them in your home theater set up for a while. It's good to know they are superb with the right gear. They are on my short list of speakers to own. I know the veracity in general is very versatile and there isnt much gear it wont sound good with. I wish there were someone in the Salt lake city area who owns the Salks. I will be moving back to the bay area in california within the next 3 months. So maybe i will be lucky and here them there.

Which VAC gear are we talking about?

I was refering to actual VAC valve amplification company gear. I was at ces and heard a room with vac gear in them. I think the set up was the phi 300 amps/Talon Thunderhawks/wadia 9 correction system. There was something about the sound. I will be looking at the lower priced VAC 160 musicblocs or used Avatar integrated amps and just wanted to know in general if anyone's heard the salk speakers with VAC stuff.

However, I can attest that you get a lot for each watt you buy from VAC, meaning a VAC watt sounds more resolute and powerful than it should. I was once powering a 87dB speaker with 30 watt VAC 300B power (more like 28 watts), and it was behaving like 200 watts SS power

Oh, that "something" about VAC's top of the line gear is probably meticulous voicing over years by VAC's Kevin Hayes. He is a like a fantastic cook in the kitchen, perfecting his stew...

Tell me about it!
Kevins motto for his gear is the breath of life. There is something about the air, separation and the 3D sound that got me. I don't want to go broke purchasing that gear so i know what you mean about the price. I don't know how much the wadia 9 room correction system played in it at ces but the sound was stunning.
