Montreal Show: April 13-15
« on: 29 Jan 2007, 10:01 pm »
Hello fellow TAASers:
Seeing that we are all still on a high after Dayglow's smash-hit Amp Comparo, it seems appropriate to advise everyone of the upcoming show in Montreal:
It is called:
Festival Son & Image 2007
The Home Entertainment and Electronics Show

Link: www.fsiexpo.com
Dates open to the public:
Friday, April 13
Sat, April 14
Sun, April 15
Venue:
Sheraton Centre - Downtown Montreal.

I am planning on being there.  If it is half as good as the Rocky Mountain show, it will be a blast.  I think this is a must for any A/V hobbyist, since we no longer have a show of this kind hosted here in Toronto.
I would like to know how many of you are interested.  If we can obtain committments from you, maybe I can look into some discounts on hotel rooms.
I know that the Sheraton is already almost sold out, but we can always stay at another hotel in the vicinity.
And here is the most important aspect:  As a group, we TAASers could visit rooms together, get together for a drink in the evening, etc.. It would be a great weekend of sweet sound and great home theatre.
Anyone game?

Spirit, In the past two years I arranged discount room rates, on a group basis, at the Marriott Chateau Champlain (for a different event than FSI expo). If interested, PM me for details.

Sounds like fun I haven't been back there in a year or so perhaps we could share the gas if we drive or rent a van to help keep costs down.  :dunno:

All,

The FSI Expo in Montreal is my favorite show... great location, a BIG crowd, beautiful women (yes, there are women who come to this show!), and FUN!

I'll be there for a 3rd year in a row (Room 926, shared with Louis of Omega Loudspeakers).

I hope to meet a lot of new TAAS members there, as well as some old faces ... please visit us!  :drums:

Best regards,

Vinnie

A "heads up" for U.S. citizens heading to the Montreal show by air.....

"Beginning January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document, or an Alien Registration Card, Form I-551, if applicable."

Are you interested in cost sharing with a few others to rent a minivan?

I'm in for any discounts. Will be bringing a friend, and can share 2 more seats. Though taking VIA might be nice...

hello TAASers

if anyone is not planning to go to the montreal show because of a lack of $$$, I'd be willing to host them at my apartment.  I've got a fairly large place (in terms of city apartments) and have a couple of extra fold out beds (one comfortable and one not) and plenty of floor space.  2-3 would be comfortable, more would be pushing it.  If there is a large demand I'd probably give priority to students and those on limited income....

I'm one block away from a bus that takes you downtown- probably 30 minutes to the venue.  It's in a nice area of montreal with lots of cafes, etc...

just being neighborly.. p.m. me if you'd like to go but can't because of $$$

Jim,

I may PM you here in the near-future. I'm not a student (students age though hehe)..  but broke is one thing I certainly am!!!!!  Still, I'd love to attend my very first audio show! Will you be personally attending as well?

Cheers
