As mentioned previously, we just received our first Graaf GM50 Integrated Amplifier from Italy.

This is a KT90 based Valve design putting out 50wpc.

As such, we have been conducting listening sessions with this amp at the heart of a few different systems.

As such, I would like to obtain some feedback from the members as to their thoughts on this unit.

System:  Canadian debut of the Nottingham Dais with Two Tone Arms, the Anna Arm & Wilson Benesch ACT.  Phono Cartridges will be the Van den Hul Grasshopper White Beauty HO & Ortofon MC5000.

Linestage: EAR-Yoshino 912 Reference Valve pre amp with built in Phono pre amps. (This unit will be used only as a Phono Stage.)

Digital:  Audio Aero Capitole SE Player/Pre

Loudspeakers:  Opera Divina

Cables:  Chord Cable Co. Indigo Interconnects (RCA) Single Ended and Signature Spk Cables.

Power:  Foundation Research LC100 Line Filter on Amp and LC1 & LC2 on other components.

The dates that we have set aside for listening sessions are Wednesday & Thursday, January 24 & 25, 2007, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm.

Yes....the intent was to bring along the Graaf GM50...however, I may bring an alternative.....I am undecided at this point.....

The EAR-Yoshino 890...along with the 834L Line Stage may fit the bill nicely....

It sounds like you may have lots to listen to.....

Many Thanks to the members submitting equipment.

As this will be a two day affair, would it be possible to obtain a schedule as to what amps are going to be shown on what day....

This way members will be able to attend to hear a specific amp on that day or if there is space, attend both days.

I still have to firm things up in order to do that, but I will if I can. There still a lot to do, make the score sheets, confirm with everyone, get the acoustic panels back in here....the list goes on and on..

Just a quick note to say Thank You to the members that had a chance to drop in to our shop over the last couple of days for our evaluation of the Graaf GM50 Integrated Amplifier.

I hope that you found the session both informative & enjoyable.....by the way, great music on both vinyl & CD's that was brought in.....

I will be conducting more of these evals as new products arrive....

I have a pretty heavy schedule at the shop.....As such, I will not be able to bring the Graaf over.....Sounds like you have a pretty full house so far......

Ed Wolkow from Foundation Research has confirmed with Sam that he will be there on Saturday.

I will try to make it out on Sunday, but that is not firmed up as yet......

The great thing about these sessions is I always learn something new or have my existing ideas & biases challenged.  In this case I had to re-evaluate my opinion of the Opera Divina speakers thanks to the new amp & front end.  I liked them before but thought they were a bit too warm & "tubey" sounding to use for evaluating amps & sources; they had too much of their own sound for that.  Boy was I wrong on that one, the speakers turned out to be a lot faster & more neutral than I ever suspected while keeping the nice musical sound which I like.  The Nottingham turntable & Anna arm was pretty wild, with the right records it's like full surround sound but with only two speakers.  It was more of everything, in a good way.
