'Sustained plateau biasing' , who do they pay for this kind of marketing work? I've thought about anything alse I've heard that even comes close, and I can't think of anything.  Perhaps they could do a funky name for a power supply using dual bridge rectifiers, then Dejan we could form a patnership and sell it for megabucks!

Thanks
Raj

That could be called "DFWBR with decoupled ground plane" (DFWBR for Dual Full Wave Bridge Rectifier), and the manufacturer could be called Magnasonic Hyperphase. Or Macro Hard.

Maybe "Ultraliear supranormal Mains line signal suppressor", or some such.

Cheers,
DVV

No good, technically earth is not floating, and remember, no straight lies. You get caught too easily.

Better "Variable state mains transformation - VSMT". Or just straight "AC Liquidator". :P

Hello:
I just thought I would post something to try to get a response or an opinion about amps I am thinking about purchasing.

I am thinking about getting the new nOrh amps that are just about to come out ,but I will wait till I get some on them before making the purchase though.Of what Michael C. Barnes of nOrh has revealed they shall be capable of competeing with Highend designs like Berning. With the cost between $400-$600 for a Monoblock set they might be exactly what I am looking for to power my NEAR M50's which shall come with a outboard XO for Vertical amplification.

Question I have is ,if you were to Vertical amp speakers which type of amps would you choose? What class-A,A\AB,D?Would you mix the Manfs.?The new nOrh's are Cl.A pre-driver stage to Cl.A\AB output driver stage amps. :?

I have always thought that Cl.A would give you the cleanest power and best for musicality, but suck Juice like there is no tomarrow which make them a real drain to use. I did consider Monarchy's ,but I think that it's to expensive to use them.

I have been told that the speakers are compatible with amps by Aragon,Atma-Sphere,Krell and B&K.Some of these are mighty expensive and would really not be cost effective for Vertical amping.    :)

So if you can give me any guidance help on this I would appreciate it! :)
TIA

Well, like you said, the new nOrh amps are just that, new, and as such, there's no background experience to rely on. In other words, as yet, they are an unknown. As such, I would never buy them, not until I have had at least some experience with them, as a matter of principle.

As for the class struggle, frankly, I never looked at it that way. I believe sound quality is not directly related to operating class; in other words, I have heard some class AB amps beat some pure class A amps in terms of sound quality, but I have also heard the opposite. In short, I wouldn't pay too much attention to operating class as I would to absolute sound quality as such.

Ultimately, you can always tweak a class AB amp higher into pure class A, usually with good results.
