The ONKYO A-9555 seems to be getting some good feedback and reviews, and selling like hot cakes!

Danny, will this be Saturday and Sunday, March 3 & 4?  I still plan to go to Fort Worth that weekend and would like to be at Art's for a few hours to do some digital listening.  It appears to be quite an event!

Hi Hank, I think it will more likely be the weekend of March 10/11, if you can't adjust your plans drop me a line, we could still listen to some of what's there the weekend before...

Just a quick update. We have some amps here now and more on the way....

May Audio has sent their latest integrated:

http://www.mayaudio.com/detail.asp?ItemID=3897&MCatID=75&MCat=Sonneteer&SCat=Digital%20Amplifier

It's already being reviewed.

We have a Lyngdorf here again thanks to Mark Lyon of Audio Systems.   http://www.audiosystems.com/   More info here: http://www.usrcs.com/  http://www.lyngdorf.com/ContentId/334/Default.aspx

Trends Audio has sent an amp: http://www.trendsaudio.com/EN/Product/TA-10_desc.htm

Paul sent his Niagra amp today. http://www.nomad-audio.com/niagara.htm

We have a NuForce integrated on the way too. Anybody have their new ref 9 mono blocks to send? NuForce guys...?

Still keeping fingers crossed on the Red Dragon's...

We have a Super T-amp coming also.

I have a couple of more maybes too if they are ready in time. We'll see.

Hi:

Just thought I'd put my two cents in.  Its a shame that many of the amplifiers can't be compared in a fully digital mode, i.e. with digital input straight from the transport.  I think the Panasonic SAxr700 would surprise a lot of people if tested in this way.   I have a friend who has owned a number of the better known digital amps and this is the one he uses, with $25,000 speakers.

My only issue with that is that you are limited to the D/A converter in the receiver and it's no where close to the performance level of some of the D/A converters that we have on hand.

For the money though, that is a really good unit.

Mshgguy,

Are you volunteering to loan your Panny xxx digital reciever for the event? Otherwise, I don't see 'renting' it from a retailer as a choice Danny would take, for ethical reasons. And I doubt if Panny would make one available.
The Pannys could be tested as a pure pcm input amp, as well as analog input, via its internal ADCs.

FWIW,
Paul

Okay I have an offer for an Onkyo A-9555 digital amp.

Does any one have a Panasonic SAXR... something that they would like to send?

It looks like we have plenty available to do an integrated group so including a few of these receivers would be easy to group in with them.

The Ronins came in road cases though fedex made a valiant attempt to destroy them  :green:

You should have the Trends Micro, the NuForce and the Super T I sent you, Danny. This is going to be VERY interesting! Did Cary send their digital amp, too?

Danny,

Sorry if I missed this, but did Bel Canto get back to you? I just purchased a S300i Class D integrated from them and would be interested to see how it compared with this group.

Gary

Yes, I know. I could send you MINE, but I don't know if I can pull the trigger on that one.  :o
Oh, and it was nice meeting you at RMAF this year.

We currently have amps in house from:

2) We have a Lyngdorf here again thanks to Mark Lyon of Audio Systems.   http://www.audiosystems.com/   More info here: http://www.usrcs.com/  http://www.lyngdorf.com/ContentId/334/Default.aspx

3) Trends Audio: http://www.trendsaudio.com/EN/Product/TA-10_desc.htm

4) Nomad Audio Niagara:  http://www.nomad-audio.com/niagara.htm

5) Nuforce integrated: http://www.nuforce.com/products-intamps.htm

6) Sonic Impact Super T-amp: http://www.si5.com/products.php?pID=4004

Promised:

Something coming from Dodd Audio...

Michael at MGL Audio Labs http://www.mglaudiolabs.com/products/symphony.htm is sending their new Symphony Integrated.

Hopefuls:

Red Dragon Audio...

Maybe an Onkyo and Panasonic receiver to compare... I have some maybe's here. Who will send us one of these?

I never heard back from Bel Canto or PS Audio but my e-mail to PS Audio got me on their list of people to send out junk e-mails to (sales ads).

Any others? Time is ticking away...

Given that we have a number of integrated and a couple non, I think we should split it into two sessions, one for each.  So, let's plan on doing integrateds 3/10 and non on 3/17.  So let's get some more non-integrated amps lined up.

Start at 10AM both days, take a break for lunch and come back and finish up in the afternoon.
