This is why I really hate (and why TONE does not perform) "shootouts".
As I own and use both of these products, and am a BIG fan of the squeezebox
and of Jim Hagermans products. So, when you do this kind of thing, you do
a disservice to everyone, especially in a case like this, where these are really
different products with different applications!
Just for my 2 cents worth, the HAG USB is great in my studio where I use
the mac as a jukebox. All of my CD collection is digitized in uncompressed form
and that's my CD player substitute in my third system.
The Squeezbox (we have three of em) is great in my living room where I have
minimal hfi and really convenient, as well as in my daughters room (one less component
to manage, and she's not asking to borrow my CD's anymore) and in my
garage.
I wouldn't want a HAG USB in my living room, nor would I want to bother with an SB
in my studio... They are both great, but for different reasons!
I just feel that it's more important to identifying the use of the product than argue
about what the "best" is....
