Congratulations - great looking pair of speakers. When you get a chance would you take a pic with the grills off and also a pic of the rear.Best of luck with them.
Congratulations! 5As and the Moscode amp is quite a combo! Here’s a hint on setting up the bass response of the 5As: start with the crossover boxes. I discovered this when helping my friend hook up a Moscode 401 to his 5As. We set the 5A level and EQ pots to 0, the bass contour to 1, and the crossover box impedance to 100k as this is the input impedance of the amp. This sounded very good but the speakers didn’t seem to have the weight and slam that I would expect. When I measured the response with a sound meter and test tones (as recommended by Richard Vandersteen) the response dropped by about 10db below 60 Hz. This result is probably room related. We experimented with different impedance settings on the crossover boxes and found that the 10k setting brought the low bass up to within 2db of the mid bass. From there we were able to fine tune using the 5A bass level and e.q. controls. Now it’s sounding phenomenal.Russ
George,If you're using a TACT to set up the 5A's, I wonder what would happen if you removed the crossover boxes and let the TACT build the pre-power amp bass filter slope? I don't see any risk to this, other than the time it takes to try it. The reward would be one less link in the chain. If you try it, let me know how it turns out.Russ
Zybar,Do you still have your Salk HT-3's ?Cheers
