Ahoy!

I know it's a bit early, but I just picked up a pair of outdoor speakers to hang under my patio soffit in the Spring. I'm needing suggestions on speaker cable that is reasonably cheap, but good quality. I'll be needing about 40' total, so a minimum of 16-14 AWG wire would be ideal. I would also like the outer jacket to be white. I will be connecting banana plugs to the speaker ends for quick disconnect as I will be removing the speaker during the winter months. I suppose I could go to Home Depot or Lowes, but thought I'd check here first since I have a few months. Anybody have any suggestions and a good source?

I've had very good luck with the outdoor speaker cable I bought at Home Depot (not Lowe's).  It's gray and comes in a twisted pair of either 14 or 16 gauge.  I can't remember the cost but it's reasonable.  It has been on my back porch for over a year now (fully exposed) and looks new. (I think it may be 2+ years now)  The speakers look so-so but will probably clean up nicely... they did last Spring.

It's a light-to-medium gray teflon (I think) jacket.  I don't know where you'll find good AND inexpensive white outdoor cable locally... You'll find Monster Cable at most installer's places...

Are the wires in the open, exposed to the elements, or do you intend to bury them?

generally any cable would do, just make sure the cable size is what you desire,good quality and cheap dont go together however you could find good cable thats good value for money.

you could try any hardware store or an electrician supplier store to find the right cable in the
right color if thats what you want. for cheaper alternatives try a department store they have
good cheap cables there.

take some time to think through the wiring and do a good instalation of both speakers and cables

Actually most of the cable will be tucked under aluminum siding molding underneath the overhang. Maybe only a few feet will be exposed to the direct elements.
