Great idea to make a video of the problem - now we can do this with our computerized-device headaches

I've had my musica lock up a few times, seems like it is related to encoding.  I also noticed that is happened more frequently when I would use random, and repeat.

Hi,
Finally received my new Musica...dead quite! They must be damping the newer players because it's also alittle heavier than I recall.
So far it works great ,better screen definition, and the toggle is really tight and controlled.
It was shipped with 2.2.2. and will remain that way until I can assess that a software upgrade is worth it. Idon't necessarily feel the need to control from my seating position if it means troubleshooting again.

I had my first lock-up last night, though I may have tried playing from the HD too soon after importing a cd.  Half way through a recorded cd it locked and the screen cleared as if it had re-booted but, the weird thing... The screen said I was playing Caryn Lin's cd - Lionheart, song - We're Only In It For The Money  :?  Three different animals there!  A re-boot restored all to order...

hmmm, something is indeed wrong.  either your luck is worse than mine (you're the first person to beat me, so i guess you can feel privileged) or something in your setup is contributing to the errors.  do you think it can have anything to do with grounding/  i remember reading on some other thread that a member had serious re-boot problems because he kept on grounding himself to the unit.  do you think this can be possible in your setup or perhaps a bad connection somewhere is causing it to go crazy?

Don't know if it is helpful or not, but my screen went blank too, and then I remembered that I was fooling with the display brightness and had turned it alll the way down, when exploring the new software download from on my computer.

Turned it back up and there is was.

Hopefully it will be something like that.

UPDATE:
Last week I e-mailed Vinnie Rossie (RWA) and he volunteered to take a look at my player even though he hadn't done any mods to it.
So I drove it over(about an hour's drive) and left it with him.
Within 2 hours he diagnosed the problem and identified it as a bad LCD module.
The next day we both spoke with Olive and they arranged to have it picked up from him and do the repair.
They will also send it back to him and I am going to have it modded by Vinnie.
I was on the fence about having it modded because of violating the warranty but it's become increasingly clear to me that he knows more(or at the very least as much)about the Musica as Olive.
I have to say that Vinnie is without peer in this business as far as I'm concerned.
He is generous, honest and of course talented...what more can you expect from anyone that you are dealing with in any business.
 So long live RWA!

I look forward to hearing you compare your modded player. I have followed your posts as you bought an olive same time I did.
It would be nice to wrap this thread up too, and start a more upbeat one :P

Hi,
Well I think it seems like a good ending to me,unless Olive does something other than what they told me.
With all the good press the Musica received without the RWA mods it can only be better with them. This seems to be the consensus with the reviews.
BTW,I wouldn't have stuck with this player if it didn't sound so good.
