Olive can't even fix their own players!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well my Musica just came back and the first thing it did was freeze up.
I then did a hard boot and it started to play.
I added a few Cd's and after 5 f'...king minutes IT FROZE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm currently waiting to hear from someone tomorrow BUT I AM PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!
It's as if the player didn't get touched ...it still has the same exact problems...it's freezes,it stops in the middle of songs,it turns off when I lightly touch it to go into sleep mode.
They said they replaced the motherboard but couldn't replace the problem...give me a F'....king break!!!!

seriously, i'd be ripped too. they should just give you a new unit at this point.

I'm on my third because the first 2 had problems with glitches on songs that happened randomly.
I'd re-import the CD and it might happen or not ...and the CD was totally clean and playable on other players.
Olive didn't have an explanation which is why they gave me new players.
This problem is an entirely different animal...not only that, when I go back to the original software version I get the glitches back that were gone when I received my current player.

I'd be on the phone and reamin' some ass after 3 attempts to rectify the problem with no success.

I did, when I got the 2nd and 3 rd player, which was this past March,I had to kick butt and it all happened within a 3 week timeline.
Now 9 months later I'm in a somewhat weaker position BUT I'm supposed to speak to a new rep.today.

I'll keep everyone up to date.

Sorry to hear of your woes, reddmadder. To make matters worse the Olive isn't cheap. Given what I've read here I'd be a bit reluctant to fork out the long green on an Olive.

Guy, your product links are broken but worst of all, your product photos are horrible. What did you do, use a cell phone camera? I mean my 7 year old can take a better photo then that.

get the rep's e-mail and we can all e-mail him/her and say that we've been interested in buying an Olive but are concerned about their customer service (which would be true in my case)... I bet if you had enough people e-mail them, they would reconsider.

I am familiar with these problems as well. Mine are less frequent, but if I am ripping a number of CDs or if I leave my Musica on over night, the behavior gets really flaky. It may freeze up, it may jumble the music folders, songs and artists, or it may reboot itself. In addition, if I happen to touch it when I have a little static built up, it totally freaks. I just use the remote whenever possible, or discharge the static in myself before operating it.

Olive is nothing more than a distributor, who rebadged the Hifidelio. Seeing only dollar signs, they overlooked the fact that they might actually have to know something about repairing the Olives. My only hope is they learn from their mistakes, and make a better product (and support it) as a result.

I have more or less decided not to contact Olive any more. I am living with it for now, and may attempt to fix the static immunity issue on my own.

There is nothing more frustrating than what you are experiencing and describing. You're on your 3rd unit?I'd say get rid of the thing.

Get a Squeezebox, have Wayne at Bolder modify it, and you're in business. There's all the help and advice you could ever want here at AC. Plenty of links here to make your life easy.

Save yourself the drama. Life is too short, and something like this can become the bane of your existence.
