D-400

I heard the D-200 monoblocks, in Quadros & Ventura, Portugal, and they are excellent.

When are you planning to begin to sell the new D-400?
I’m thinking about a new amplification and the new D-400 could be a strong choice.

Thanks,

Edgar

Thanks.

I planning to hear them with the VON SCHWEIKERT VR-4 SR MKII.

The VR-4SR MKII is reasonably efficient...D-200 has plenty of power to drive them (I use this combination in my personal system).

Sorry for the abuse!

But, how do you drive them? With 4 D-200 modules in bi-amplification, or just 2 in bi-cabling?

I use a single pair of D-200's with a single run of 11ga speaker wire directly to the upper cabinet, and 9ga jumper wires from there to the woofer cabinet (not bi-wired).

really?
is that the desired way w/the VR4SR?
I know the VR4 or 4jr VSA says you absolutely have to run them shotgun style to get the best performance.  and when I did this (from a jumper system as you described), it was a SERIOUS improvement.

What is "shotgun" style...bi-wire? Albert & I have tried every conceivable configuration and prefer the method I described. Bi-wire also works well, but only if high and low frequency wires are the same length and gauge.

Has the dust settled enough at the new shop to resume work on D400?

The new shop is complete and production/testing is up and running. The showroom is still being finished up but just about done.

The amp design is finalized and we have working pre-production prototypes (over 500w at 8 ohms  :D ). It will take awhile for the custom chassis parts, transformers, shipping boxes etc...but will be worth the wait.
We'll post photos and more info when we're closer to a release date.

Any further details on what makes the D.500's tick?

Did I dream it, or wil they use multiple (2?) Hypex UCD400 modules, instead of the UCD700?
And youve mentioned they have the XDC built in?
User switchable XLR/RCA?

Anything else? More info please.

D•500 uses neither of the above, but a different UcD module (not available to DIY).

I guess by your mentioning transformers are on order that you are not choosing to use the oft rumored Hypex switching power supply. :)

There was also talk a while back that Hypex would produce a high end version with all the goody opamps and resistors that the tweekers have been playing with last two years. Maybe, maybe that what Dusty's talking about.

Can't wait to hear about it.
