I walk in stride with people

"Like I Said: Songs 1990-91" is a combination of the first two albums, some of my favorite songs. Yeah, what you got there is some of her best albums.  I would add “Reveling and Reckoning” and “ Not a Pretty Girl”

You need to change this thread title to "boead's paean to Ani."   
Last night I had Plastic Castle on and my wife came down to get my daughter.  She heard Ani and sat down to listen for a while.  After a couple of songs she said, "damn, she is better than Dylan."      This is coming from a girl who still has a briefcase full of Dylan bootleg tapes.

Only one recommendation for Up Up Up? Cmon folks. I thinks it's her best. Out of the 7 or 8 cds I own, "Out of Range" is the only one I don't care for; nothing seemed new on it.

And I should add what I like about it the most is it's extraordinary musical creativity.  It's such a slap in the face of all the commercial crap we're inundated with.  The recording is top notch too.  Couldn't careless about the lyrics as I'm not into poetry anymore than rap...

I'm not a hard-core Ani fan, but I like what I've heard. I only have 'Not a Pretty Girl' from her catalog, although I'm planning to build that pretty agressively.

I would like to call attention to her version of Greg Brown's 'Poet's Game' on the 'Driftless' tribute album. It is flat-out one of the best things I've heard in a long time.  Just an amazing performance - worth searching out the cd for by itself (although much of the rest of the disc is very good as well).

(don't know about the 'better than dylan' bit, though )

Ok, finally added the "Revelling & Reckoning" cd to my Ani collection.   Wow!!  killer performance!!  I don't know how I missed adding this one earlier.   Thanks for the recommendations guys.....   both discs are completely different but musical.
