B-60 to B-60 SST changes
« on: 13 Oct 2006, 09:22 am »
Hello everyone, I'd appreciate some information on what changes were made when Bryston went from the B-60 to B-60 SST? Basically, I'd love to purchase a new B-60 SST outright, but it's beyond my budget so I'm wondering whether second-hand B-60 would be a good move? Thanks, and apologies if this topic has been done to death.

Hi Sonic_Life,

I believe James already answered similar question [you can search the forum for it]. If I remember correctly the transistors they use in SST have more linear characteristic ... but ... I think you wanted to hear this:
I have auditioned the B60 (available at the dealership) when I was purchasing my B60 SST ... Go for it. If you can put your hands on some second hand B60 within your price range, which has ... what ... 15 to 18 years of warranty left  :D ... go for it.

I didn't have an opportunity to compare both amps at the same time and I am not high end hi-fi enthusiast, but (IMHO) I think any difference in sound for normal home user (room limitations) is negliable.

Anyone, feel free to correct me ...

If you can, wait for a B60-SST. The SST uses the terrific new output devices which we use in all the new SST amplifiers.
