Agreed. Sometimes the differences can be minute between speakers on some recordings, and
huge on others. Thanks for that elaboration. When I was auditioning speakers, I would bring along everything, pop music, pop vocal, well produced rock music, solo harp, (which I really like ) some orchestral that I like. I think you absolutely need to do that to make a fair evaluation.
I find that sometimes the mid-range can be similarly voiced between two speakers, but then the lower mids ( particularly transient response, and timbre ) can be hugely different. Also, quality and quantity of bass.
