1000a those are good questions since I didn't see anything on the PA website  - but, I can personally vouch for Nick's honesty and business ethics. His customer service is excellent!! He took care of me in spades when I had problems with my TVC recently and am a very happy customer. Well done Nicholas and thank you.

thanks rayd

I guess i was starting to worry a little, yes Nick is obviously loaded with integrity that I never doubted, I just wish I could make up my mind to C Core or not to,  I am a relentless researcher to a fault and hate to buy things twice, so I am trying to pick a time to jump.  but its kinda like a computer it will always be improved 6 months from now if not 3.  thinking jump now check back in a yr or so see how far the designs have come then, that way I can start enjoying now or shortly as is I am still just living off you guy's high.  I want my TVC not my MTV, so I will continue to stress. really wanted to just order the base model tonight and get started. we will see

1000a, I am similar to you - I window shop, research, info-load, and then window shop, research, info-load some more  :D, then, ponder, procrastinate, vascillate, then go get something to eat... ...then, hopefully by then, I pull the trigger.  But with the TVC, it was a lot easier process as there was so much info out there in terms of 1st-hand experiences, articles, + amateur and professional reviews. (Oh, and also this thread  8))

If you want to save your pennies for one of Nick's future products but want to sample his work, keep an eye out on AudiogoN where TVC's pop-up from time-to-time. That might be an entry option till you're ready to pull the trigger on one of Nick's other offerings.

Congratulations! :thumb: I too was interested in that piece but, alas, he who hesitates is lost. :( Excellent price and I'll bet that it will sound wonderful although there are sure a lot of tubes to maintain.

My new CD player arrived yesterday. Plugged into the TVC I get glorious sound. SACDs are incredible. No problems with volume, since via the XLR conncections the voltage output of the player is a whopping 4.8 v., 5.0 at another setting. (It offers alternate filter settings.)  Whatever problem I thought I had with the TVC must have been caused by the interim CDP, a cheap Sony, although it took a while for me to notice it.

I wanted to thank my friend for helping me to build the audio system of my dreams, and
save me thousands of dollar. He is known on audio circle as GHM I call him Moody.
He has a gift of finding equipment that sounds like 40k systems, but you only pay hundreds. When we first got started in high-end audio we waste thousands of dollars
trying to get the sound you hear in dealers show

keeping in line with the spirit of the last post, i have to give a big ol' thanks to Rollo for the DIY speaker cable suggestion.     The radio shack cables are amazing, put Anti-cables to shame in many ways thus far.

In comparison the anti-cables are slow and syrupy.   the increased clarity, imaging, detail and air and all that is enhanced.  Its sounds like i upgraded the source.   If the bottom end fills out they'll be real winners, i only have about 48 hrs on 'em.

Head to radio shack and buy a 50' roll of their 16 ga Premium Speaker Cable.  it sais megacable on the front.     The 50 is actually 100' since its a pair.    Make 12 equal pieces, 6 per channel.   The positive side (Red) gets a braided pair and the Black gets 4 of them.  Braid each pair then twist the pairs into 1.   I bought an 8 pack of gold crimp spades and use those with the Black leg...to keep the wire bundle together.   I'm using bare wire connection for the positive sides.   a 12' set for $45.   An 8' pair is only $22 since the 50' rolls are $22.  8 x 12 = 96'   took about 30 minutes to assemble.

I went all out and bought the DIY power cable from Wal-Mart and use it on the Auggies...good stuff as well.   $12 for 25' of green Yardmaster landscape cord.  Its made by Woods and is sold with the other wal-mart cords.  3 - 16ga  runs.   I tied 2 together to make the return leg.
this is the cord that a 6Moons reviewer came up with.  They  also come in white.
I can't easily A-B the two, but will in a few weeks when they are burned in.

Rollo, do i braid these tight or just secure???

lets see if i have this correct: :D

per speaker
1 pair braided goes to the + terminal
2 pair braided and then twisted together go to the - terminal

Correct?  so this is like 50% wire goes to (+) side and then 100% wire goes to the (-) side.

1-spades are used on the (-) terminal either cause you could not fit the wire in the post?  Or was that part of the DIY instruction?  can I just twist wire and hook to post?

2-what is this gizmo DIY project called, is it on the net anywhere?

Gooberdude thanks again for the heads up on the TVC sale, it should be shipping out to me on Tuesday!  Now I can finally really join the party and give feed back, from MS.

Yeah, me, too, and probably everyone on this forum, either directly or indirectly. GHM introduced me and my friend to the Promitheus TVC. Of course, as the originator of this thread, he's partly responsible for the worldwide success of the TVC.

GHM has been helpful long before the TVC i suspect as well.      :shh:

Audiocircle, moreso than a few other forums i frequent, seems to be more in tune with having the community as a whole achieve a certain base level of performance regardless of budget or experience.

Promitheus TVC active vs Audio Note
I have a souped up TVC and recently heard the Audio Note M2 Balanced.
The M2 was very very VERY good. :tempted:

How close does the TVC with the buffer stage come to the AN M2B?
Any advise appreciated

Who here in the ol' USA has the know-how and dexterity to change one of the inputs to XLR in my what seems 1st gen TVC?   I just got this amp, and it would be a shame not to use the XLR...

Whitese, there are adaptors out there, a better bet than trying to convert the TVC to XLR.
