Hey Guys,

Check out the review by Nels Ferre' of Enjoy The Music. Well done Nels, we all feel better now. We thought we were over zealous with pride of ownership.
It is official now. Long live the TVC. Bravo! Nicholas.

Ditto here! :)

"...a tubed DAC,  and SET amps, both high and low powered."

Well Nicholas, looks like I will be buying even more from Promitheus Audio in the near future!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your kind remarks, they really do mean a lot to me.

I've heard from Nicholas, and he is sending me the phono stage for review.  Judging from the pictures, I don't think I'll be able to pick on the cosmetics.

He may also be sending the active preamplifier as well, but I'm not really sure on that one...

A review, from start to finish, usually takes 45-60 days.

Really liked the review, Nels !

I was curious what was the source, amp, speakers and cabling you used?

"but sonically, it runs easily alongside the "big dogs."

Umm was really curious of examples of the "big dogs"?

Good show Nels!

I've been waiting for someone to review the Phono Preamp.  Its the same cost as my Channel Islands set-up but at some point i'd like to entertain some low output MC cartridges...

Its real high on my 'wish list'.

I'm also looking forward to hearing comments about Nicholas' DAC. Has anybody listened to it yet? I'm considering checking out the NON OS DACs, but before I do, I'm interested in hearing how the Promitheus DAC measures up to the MHDT DACs. I'm definitely sold on Nicholas' TVC (I'm enjoying it thoroughly), but I also know that very few companies, if any, do all types of audio equipment well (meaning, just because Nicholas does a TVC well doesn't mean he'll do a DAC well).

That's all listed here.  http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/reviewers/nels_ferre.htm

And the "big dog" comment? Insert your own brand/model. Are there better line stages out there? Yes.  The TVC, however, will hold its own without embarrassment.  But you knew that already.  :)  Of course, you will need to spend more money.  You knew that too.

The JoLida JD-9 is another great value, a really nice phono stage. Once you factor in the price, it's a no brainer.

...Glad to hear your happy. I did not receive directions for use of cables. Am I missing something here or did you mean trying both ways or what...

Yes mine are the original black and red with double strands of silver (deluxe) which adds a bit more body I think. They are marked with an arrow at one end which, in my case, should point towards the source or up-chain component and not signal flow. This might not be the same for all cables - I know Nick has been experimenting. Hope this helps?

Early B.

For those of you who have been hanging around on AC for a few years, has any other product generated this amount of excitement? It seems to me that 148 pages is a lot of interest in a single product.

I think it speaks to a product being affordable for many to try and have good performance.  I'm happy to see these word of mouth things happen as they do for many other products.  It's a wonderful alternative to reading about $12,000 preamps in a hifi mag that 99% of us would never be able to try in our systems.  Both components have there place and this a nice counterbalance.  Plus, these types of products help further dialogue in our audio community.  The Prom. TVC and the Paradisea DAC both have been nice "cinderella's" in the past year or so.

Launche,

So true. Bang for the buck. Expensive components in most cases offer a bit more in performance, however IMO very little. The differences are small in performance but not in price.
Is the CJ Act2 at $15000 better than the Promitheus TVC/ Preamp at under $1000 combo? Yes it is . Is it 15x better as the price indicates. NO WAY! Not even twice as good IMO.
With a Statement series of products on the drawing board at Promitheus we can only imagine what is coming our way. The TVC as good as it is in its original form is bettered by the Dual mono dual box version in my opinion, soundstage imaging, bass, dynamics, clarity are portrayed in a more natural setting.
Basically a tweaked out version of the origanal. IMO an all out assault on the TVC has yet to emerge, now it will. The addition of the active Preamp to the TVC is an upgrade path made in heaven as it enhances an already good performance.
Remember the TVC was built to a price point. The trannies as good as they are leave room for bigger and more exotic cores and wire. The key to great sound lies in the trannie. Promitheus has seemed to nail this part down as they design and manufacture their own.
The good ship Promitheus is headed for smooth sailing and I am aboard. With 148 pages of threads I know I am not alone. so if your not on board buy a ticket and enjoy the cruise.
